I also assume the poem is only once in power, as the SA were killing socialists and Jews in an unofficial basis long before Hitler became Chancellor.
There’s a lot of versions and variations of this, all saying the same thing. Including the comic above. I don’t think any of them are wrong, as long as the message is heard :)

Many LGBTQ liberated from concentration camps at the end of WW2 were moved straight back into regular jails.
