Sometimes scratching just isn’t cutting it, and the human brain is…well it’s something and it tells me bite the itch cause teeth are stronger and you try and it doesn’t help.
Oh, but it does. It helps soooo much. Something about the pinpoint pressure in just the right spot just hits so good… But you can’t just keep biting it forever, and generally the itch comes back again soon after.
Understanding isn’t necessary. The call to bite is there and it somehow works, so you don’t question it. I don’t grind me teeth to mimic scratching - just bite.
I don’t even understand what she’s doing. Biting herself as a distraction? Scratching her palm with her teeth? I don’t know anyone who does this.

Oh, I thought maybe she was picking at some skin and then chewing it off.
It’s so itchy you bite it to make that spot painful just for a bit to override the itchiness.
