Now how am I supposed to get this to my desk without either spilling it all over or burning my lips trying to slurp it here. I’ve been drinking coffee for at least 25 years and I still do this to myself at least 3 times a week.
Surface tension porn
Oh fuck yeah spread that meniscus
You’ve learned plenty. Mostly about the surface tension of coffee.
In case you still need help: If you’re reading this now, your coffee will be cold so you can finally slurp it.
ADHD?
If the pathway from your coffee maker to your desk has sufficient width and structural support to accommodate a 70 ton tracked armored fighting vehicle, tank gun stabilizers can maintain pretty stable beverage platforms.
Put it on a plate. You’ll spill, but it’ll stay on the plate.
Pour milk first
The coffee pot isn’t set properly.
Put it back put it back put it back
It’s intentional. Leaves an air gap between the pot and the hotplate.
Yes, which is exactly why it shouldn’t be like that. I know you probably did it so that the hotplate won’t heat up the glass for nothing, which is fine, albeit unnecessary and slightly disturbing to my psyche. Unnecessary insofar that the hotplate won’t crack the glass, it’s not exactly that hot, the pot’s good glass and usually cracking happens when you suddenly cool a hot glass object, not just by heating it.
I can’t tell you the times that people have left it like that while there still is coffee, and then it’s gotten awkwardly room temperature. Which is why I’m sort of sore about that.
It’s not to protect it from cracking - it’s to stop the leftover coffee from burning onto it, since I only rinse it after use.
I feared as much. People used to do that a lot instead of rinsing the pot out and making a new pan. Everyone just like “no no there’s still enough for someone to probably want the last bit”.
Dad used to do it at home as well back when I still lived with him like 20 years ago. I’m not much of a perfectionist, but this somehow gets to me idk why.
this is your fault lmao

Nice moccamaster, I have one in Burgundy, they make really good drip coffee
I was gonna say. Super legit masheen and crazy expensive.
It’s worth the price, trust me.
I also heard these things last forever, and they sell spare parts.
Buy once cry once ehh? In a world of enshitification i like this.
An Aeropress is almost certainly less expensive and makes better coffee. No moving parts to break either. Granted it’s more involved, the ritual is part of a cup of coffee.
The best coffee I’ve ever drank was from Aeropress but honestly, if you use freshly ground beans on a Moccamaster they’re quite difficult to tell apart.
Get a BIGGER cup.
If they’re anything like my they’re just gonna fill it anyway and have an even bigger problem. I actually got a smaller cup to make the problem smaller.
Carry the coffee maker. It’s your mug now.
that’s how I started, now I drive a cement mixer to work
Fill your stomach for life with this one weird trick!
The pictured coffee machine appears to have a 40 fluid ounce carafe.
This mug holds 52 fluid ounces:

EDIT: (52 fluid ounces == 1.53 liters)
That’s not the cup, as it says on it the brand is Yeti. I have one, it is larger than average but not anything like 1.5L.
Here it is:
https://au.yeti.com/products/rambler-14-oz-2-0-414-ml-mug?variant=4126230105306214oz / 414ml
Now you can be like every annoying American tourist at an all inclusive resort.
This is the same approach as “add one more lane” to a congested highway. You know it’s not gonna work.
Just get a saucer.
The induced demand theory of coffee cup size.

My favorite every morning moment: bow down and SLURP
Bow down before the one you serve
You’re going to get what you deserve
(It’s coffee. You deserve coffee.)
Got coffee- I’ll do anything for you…
Gotta blow on it first though
I love how surface tension is the only thing still keeping liquid inside the cup…
gravity too
When I saw the photo and this wonderful surface tension I thought this was a science meme
Well, it’s a template for some future meme for sure.
This eminently slurpable. The clue is in the name, it makes the sound because you’re not pressing your lips against the rim of the cup in the same way as a sip. You’re more sucking in air towards you over the cup and it happens to lap up a few little waves of coffee that are thoroughly cooled on their way to your mouth.
This guy slurps.
