        Trying to stay out of it I guess. IMO, if you don’t vote as an elected official, you shouldn’t get paid.

                  They do what the government tells them to. Their government thinks that an abstaining vote is the best foreign policy option for their country.

                  I believe abstention is different from being there. They are diplomats who represent their country, some of which don’t have an official position on certain topics. While I wholeheartedly agree that politicians not showing up to work should be punished, this is a slightly different issue.
