    At an EU summit in October, the chancellor [Merz] had prematurely declared an agreement, before being corrected shortly afterwards by European Council President António Costa.

    Stupid. Why not let one of the critics make the announcement and let them present it as their victory.

    But I fear that this is the Monroe Doktrine. The US won’t allow that European influence. What we see is the US influence on the EU. If Italy is important for a majority, many other countries must also abstain. Why are those not mentioned besides the other big ones?

    This is an opportunity for South America and the EU to reduce US influence. We can see that the talk about independence is only for show and that the US controls half of the EU. And Germany most likely only pushes it because Merz with his US links knows that there is no majority.
