EU leaders decided to use joint borrowing instead of Russian frozen assets to support Ukraine, in a big win for Belgian prime minister Bart De Wever, who had long opposed the idea of a reparations loan amid fears of retaliation from Russia.
For comparison: If Europe would stop paying for paid USA software and switched to free / libre / open source, or even just paid European, we could fave billions of euros every month! And would support Europeans by even better libre software.
As Russia was ‘Intimidating’ Belgian Officials, Executives To Halt Frozen Assets For Ukraine Plan, political Commentator Julien Hoez said, “Vladimir Putin’s direct threats against Bart de Wevers life worked wonders.”
Timothy Ash says, “Belgium, Italy and Austria … took Putin’s forty pieces of silver. Scandalous. Putin’s aggression pays.”
Mr. Ash has forgotten to mention Hungary, Slovakia, and he Czech Republic as these countries are exempted from this deal.
Weak, weak, weak. Fucking weak. Putin must be pissing himself laughing at this.
IMO: It is not democratic if just one bloak can stop something that 26 others want. Why must it always come to this?
Well, it could work just fine if only there wasn’t the influence of foreign fascist dictatorships.
I would also like a joint after a marathon, to be fair.
they dont want to bite the hand that feeds thier politicians.
