Until the US Congress declares a war, we’re committed to a limited armed intervention. They’re calling it a war. The Iranian authorities don’t consider it being policed or limitedly intervened. For them, it’s a war.

I agree with you, and you are technically correct which I guess is rubbing people the wrong way.

Yankee logic: thirteen thousand air strikes is not a war because of some legalist mumbo jumbo. How dare they call it a war! If they do, they shouldn’t play sports.

They shouldn’t play sports with in our nation since they’re at war with us. If they were only playing games in Canada or Mexico, that would be a different situation.

Didn’t you just claim that it is not a war? Fucking clown.

Regardless, this isn’t how any of this works. Sports have always been detached from politics. If your country can’t comprehend that, then you’re not fit to host a major sporting event.

To the USA, it is not a war. To Iran, it is a war. We’re not at war with them but they’re at war with us. If Iran was hosting the World Cup, we might send people there even though they’re a rival nation. If they say it’s a war, why should they send their people to us?

And, you’re absolutely right. We shouldn’t have all these people flooding in, slamming our underfunded infrastructure, and causing a situation where ICE is likely to pull some BS.

You’re not at war, eventhough you bombed Iran 13000 times and killed thousands of civilians. Just a little excursion as your Führer put it? And you’re one of the more intellectual and reasonable specimens of your nation, I take it?

I don’t pretend to be reasonable. I’m an American. For 250 years, America has been a nation built on external violence for resources. There’s only been a dozen years of peace in the nation’s history, and only one or maybe two of the conflicts we were party to were outside our control. The Monroe doctrine built this country into a better place to live, where resources were always available for a price. This is just another step along that road. “War is a Racket” is absolutely correct - but like all successful rackets that maneuver the law in their favor, it’s incredibly profitable. A resource that we want exists and it is not under our control. Standard American foreign policy is to first offer to buy it, then threaten to take it, and then to take it by force.

It’s not reasonable. But it’s what defines this country.
