I enjoyed the visual aspects (and performances) of Vesper. Somehow I hadn’t heard of this one at all when it released, but it was a decent story with some very cool world building and visuals. It actually feels a LOT like a Cronenberg film, but without the existential dread. Check it out if you are looking for a visual oddity.
Never heard of it but I’ll have to check it out.
You might like Tales from the Loop if you haven’t seen it.

I think that’s fair. It’s not a banger, but I thought it was worth a viewing anyway.

Watched the trailer, looks definitely interesting! It doesn’t get a very high score but looks worth checking out.
I will say I didn’t go in with high expectations, but still enjoyed the weirdness, performances, and production values.
Just want to say: I’m with you. I thought vesper was very worth the watch with enough going on to keep you interested.
It is an interesting thing to think about, a world where biology is used as technology or better, as an extension there of.
I tried to watch it three times, but after first 15-30 minutes, I keep losing interest given its incredibly slow pace.
I couldn’t quite get into it and stopped watching about the 30-45 min mark but it was visually stunning.
As a huge fan of biopunk, I appreciated the visuals and mood. It doesn’t have much going for it when it comes to story, sadly.
I liked it. The story was a little cheesy in a YA fiction kind of way, but it wasn’t bad, and the worldbuilding was good. As a scifi movie it’s excellent, synthetic biology is a real thing that is going to become relevant in coming years and it’s neat to see fiction considering its implications.
This is a good weird movie.
I had heard about this one and wanted to watch it, then forgot about it. thanks for the reminder.
It actually feels a LOT like a Cronenberg film, but without the existential dread.
But that’s what I watch Cronenberg films for!
Why not both?
Visuals are interesting but tbh this movie is on a relatively short list of movies I’ve skipped through. I usually give up on movies I don’t find interesting or stay engaged, but sometimes a setting/plot is interesting enough to see to the end but overall is a very slow/dull film.
