There was never any hope we would arrest climate change, even if we tried, which there was never any doubt we would not do that in any real way.
I’ve watched climate agreement after climate agreement come and go. Emissions goals are set then ignored, but since there are no repercussions, nothing changes.
We are morally obligated to stop data centers and not use LLMs whenever possible. My field of work is continuing to pivot towards AI and I know I‘m not going to sit on my ass and prompt shit for a living. I‘d rather do anything else with my time.
