I support AI, but I don’t understand why AI bros are complicating things or making things all-or-nothing. OpenAI had enough money to hire a hitman on one of their whistleblowers. They can afford to pay for content, lol.

minus-squareazalty@jlai.lulinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2arrow-down1·edit-22 months agoIf not, AI is dead in the US Technically, everything you write is copyrighted
minus-squarelightnsfw@reddthat.comlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up10·2 months agoThere are works that are free to use. They could also compensate copyright holders for their work. As they should since they are profiting from it.
minus-squareazalty@jlai.lulinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·2 months agoI’m all for compensating, but obviously paying for the full work will never work
minus-squarelightnsfw@reddthat.comlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·2 months agoThen I guess they can’t use it… Unless the owner wants to cut them some kind of deal.
minus-squareazalty@jlai.lulinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·2 months agoWe’ll see how it turns out, but yea they’re in big trouble
minus-squaremadjo@feddit.nllinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up9·2 months agoOh no, how horrible… AI is dead in the US? How shall we live? /sarcasm
minus-squaret0m4@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2arrow-down1·2 months agoI’m not an american but losing in that area internationally might be way worse than to fight over training data. Maybe not paying the full amount of the copyright, but I agree they should compensate the IP holders.
minus-squaremadjo@feddit.nllinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·2 months agoI don’t believe there’s a future in AI at all.
