Too many people can never have enough:
- Money
- Power
- Status
And too many people are willing to worshipfully oblige them.

Bugles? I have a real hunger for them… almost like a call.
Are you in any way saying that their official “policy” is something they’re going to enforce? Because that’s a big swing from where you started this branch.
I think you need to pick a side and stay there. I’m not saying this from a combative standpoint. I just want you to pick.
Otherwise this looks like just scoring points and not a conversation.
Do you believe the IDF will enforce their engagement policy?
Edited briefly for clarity and tense.

My point was simple: a law or policy, unenforced, is neither law nor policy.
We all know it to be true but then some pause and give a pass to platitude of “against policy.” Same applies to US police.
I’m not changing the topic. I’m saying people need to challenge these statements more vocally.
Edit to add: You’re saying I said things I didn’t, missing the point, and have derailed an important point of agreement.
I see this going only a few directions:
Marijuana use in the US isn’t just against policy, it’s against the law. But without enforcement, does a policy or law mean anything?
I’m not anti-marijuana, I’m saying enforcement is what determines a law or policy’s effectiveness.
Meta will be okay making money off lemmy indirectly for a while. Then, if they grow, they’ll want more than a toehold.
When it’s Facebook, trust that greed and power are the goals.
They don’t take risks.
Quibble: Meta took a huge write off because their metaverse didn’t get the reception they hoped.
I think they take risks, just calculated ones. And sometimes… A founders ambition.
I do see a role for automats. Door dash, grub hub or people who ordered ahead… Certain frequently bought items…
All in temp controlled lockers.
Xlookup is where it’s at now
"The end is nigh, but not for the reasons you say. "
Example, and this encapsulates MUCH of US politics:
“The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood–idols that cannot see or hear or walk. Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts.” Revelation 9:20-21
No.
Google it. Or Bing or DDG… Put it into your search engine of choice.
I think the proposal to nuke it may also leave it flooded - depends on the yield and qty.
The SFPD decided they want paid, but not to do the usual. So here we are.m and that’s why the feds and state police are getting to do the work.
It sounds like the feds are starting to step things up on the drug enforcement side. I’m curious to see what happens with that.
Also in the bay area and have walked past a number of situating that aren’t normalized elsewhere (e.g. People bent over at the waist passed out, people passed out/blissed on the side of a major sidewalk (into embarcadero), etc.)
I like a balance approach to enforcement and ensuring shelter for everyone. A few things, here, aren’t working.
All of that said, I’ll go into SF any ol’ day and have a good, safe time. I’ll drive or I’ll take Bart. There’s a lot of undeserved SF hate. It isn’t perfect, but it sure is good to be in.
First strike does matter, though.
It can’t be the only thing that matters, but in both, our initial support went to the one attacked*.
The Hongana Manyawa are an uncontacted tribe whose name means “People of the Forest” in their language. There are an estimated 300 to 500 uncontacted members of the tribe, as well as 3,000 Hongana Manyawa people who were contacted in the 1980s and maintain some contact with the wider world.
But there was no mention of these thousands of people being decimated…
I’m not a fan of environmental degradation or basically stealing land from a tribe that appears to have been there since… Ever.
I’m just trying to distinguish fact from something that hits slightly off.
"Hatchet will be taken offline three months from now. Monthly unique user counts never rose to expected levels and we cannot justify the continued support costs.
We want to thank our loyal users. We hope to serve you better in the future."
I agree. But I’ll also point out that the flag is placed in Canada. As if it is the 51st state.
