Those pads exist for PC games designed for mouse and keyboard. Sony and MS can get away without them because the games are designed arround for the controllers, while the Steam controller was designed for the games.

In games like point and click adventures, city builders, older 1st person shooters and others made for KB&M, the pads are a god-send when playing on the steam deck or on a TV from the couch.

The new controller seems like a Steam Deck sans the screen/APU, which means the two-stage triggers will be there.

The thing is, we keep being bombarded by promises of how spectacular and wonderful New Game X will be, just to be punched in the face by stuff that falls short of that. This emotional roller coaster has actual costs, not only in terms of money, but also mental and emotional health. Is the reason why some countries, like mine (Brazil), have consumer protection laws that explicitly prohibits misleading advertising. And yes, showing a beautiful demo on a trade show counts, to then deliver a half-assed product falls squarely on the misleading advertisement category. This means people (at least here) can expect a certain level of performance and polish from games, this being backed by law.

Basically, is not about feeling entitled, is about ensuring our rights as consumers are not trampled by devs.

The eye rolling would be justified if the 30FPS was on something like a 3070 or something like that, but when the complaint comes from someone sporting a 5090, well…

If the game runs at 30FPS on the latest, greatest top-of-the-line card from Nvidia, imagine what kind of performance people are getting from 4060s or RX6600s…

They were designed that way to eat quarters at the arcade, the original “games as a service”. There’s more to it. Chickens lay lots of eggs (like a dozen) before going broody (when they stop laying and just sit on the eggs to keep them warm), so production is high. Penguins OTOH, lay one of two per season.

Except that they are. Chickens that are actually raised free, and peck on insects, herbs and other stuff outside lay eggs that are absolutely delicious, and the meat is also very tasty. You can even say that they come pre-seasoned, if you don’t mind chewy meat.

The almost tasteless eggs/meat come from industrial scale farming that feeds the chickens with grain-based feedstock in large amounts, so they grow quickly. (source: my aunts raised free-range chickens for both eggs and meat. They were really tasty)

Oh boy, the opening of the markets on Monday will be… entertaining to say the least.
