If your idea of “cooking” is just throwing a bunch of stuff together in a frying pan, then yeah I guess this is cooking. My idea of cooking involves more technique than just stirring a few things.
If you want dead simple, boil some pasta, drain, dump in a can of Catelli meat sauce, stir, serve. I did this a lot in college.
If you want dead dead simple, dump bag of Green Giant Garlic Pasta into pan, cook until warm, serve.
How low effort does it have to be? I thought 5 steps was low effort. Even if this is a huge effort for you because you’ve never done it before, do it once or twice and you’ll want to do this from now on before reaching for the blue box.
An even lazier option is just to buy pre-cubed pancetta. I keep it in the freezer, then just dump it in frozen. But most people buy bacon more than they buy pancetta.
Most of these comments say to boil pasta. The majority of the effort is just mixing stuff. I don’t even measure anything…I just go with what my heart tells me. At most, it’s 5 minutes effort and 15 minutes waiting.
Because regular cooking is a lot more involved than just sitting back and watching bacon and pasta cook. Seriously, I don’t do anything for most of the 20 minutes.
Carbonara.
Cook some chopped up bacon until crispy. Boil some pasta until cooked. Dump half cup of pasta water into bacon, mix. Mix 3 eggs with a half cup of parmesan, drip in a few tablespoons of pasta water while mixing. Turn off stove, dump pasta into bacon, mix for a few minutes, dump egg and parmesan in, mix vigorously. Eat with a big chunk of crusty bread. Should take 20 minutes from turning on the stove to eating.
That’s only because she refused to tell him that she loved him.
For some of us, rather than an echo chamber, it’s just validation of our experiences and learning the language to describe abuse. You can’t get help unless you know what you’re getting help for. And when you learn to recognize gaslighting and manipulation, you can begin to counter it.
One day is all it takes for a dictator to destroy a democracy…
It was because I believed the lie “if you start in Support, you’ll have a chance to move over to Development”. I spent 5 years waiting for them to keep their promise. I did everything they asked me to do, I even wrote code in order to demonstrate that I was able to do it. None of it mattered. And after 5 years of doing everything they wanted, chasing that goal post that kept on moving back on me, they laid me off unceremoniously. I then tried to apply to development jobs but I kept on getting asked the question why I haven’t held a development title in more than 5 years. No answer I gave was apparently good enough. I spent the next five years bouncing from a tech support job that I got laid off from, and then a technical advisor job (which was really just tech support for the development team) that I got laid off from. After that, I decided I either get a development job, or I’m leaving the industry. Tech Support was killing me, and I refused to go back. And now I deliver mail for a living. It’s a lot less stress than I had to deal with before. And I now get a true chance of a six-figure salary.
I actually work for Canada Post. We’ve heard rumblings of the pre-sequenced mail coming our way, and some people have lost large chunks of money from it. Contract negotiations are coming up though, so we’ll see how things go. Though it is nice having a union that is willing to fight the company for the workers…I’ve never had that before this job.
I thought that once too and ignored my gut feeling. It was the most toxic work environment that I’ve ever experienced, and it essentially killed my software development career. I was eventually laid off and never recovered. I’m now a mail carrier.
Do you really want the job if the interviewer can’t handle being interviewed by you?
The fact that you choose to take personally what was a comment about a model in an industry that specifically selects for extremely underweight models regardless of how they achieve that weight doesn’t mean that it was an insult directed at you. You are not the subject here. You may have a unique metabolism, but the industry projects an unhealthy and largely unattainable image for the vast majority of people.
We aren’t ridiculing the model, we’re concerned for their health…
Why are the only options the extremely underweight or the extremely overweight? What wrong with just using people of average weight? Or even just a healthy weight?
The key is not to pull the toilet paper itself, but press on the roll to turn it as you carefully draw out the toilet paper with the other hand.
Source: I once worked for a really bad travel insurance company that used the same toilet paper supplier.
It’s also distasteful to encourage eating disorders to enter the modelling industry by exclusively featuring models that are extremely underweight, but I guess who are we to judge…
Funny…of all the jobs that will be taken over by AI, this guy is actually safe…

“Blood is thicker than water.”
Usually said to convince someone that you should be there to help family regardless of what that family did to you. Unfortunately the full saying is “The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb”, meaning the ties you form with friends can be stronger than the family you you born into.
