If they’re high quality editors who consistently put out a lot of edits then yeah, it is meaningful and insightful. Wikipedia exists because of them and only them. If most feel like they do and stop doing all this maintenance for free, then Wikipedia becomes a graffiti wall/ad space and not an encyclopedia.

Thinking the immediate disgust of the people doing all the work for you for free is meaningless is the best way to nose dive.

Go have this fight with someone that wants to have it and didn’t make it clear that kind of behavior isn’t alright. Maybe somewhere other than on a thread about cops threatening to come assault protesters in their homes.

Interesting that a Californian making a callous comment about living in hurricane country is somehow equivalent to the conservative media industry absolutely cheering bloodshed any time natural disasters strike us. 🙄 If California celebrated like this any time, much less every time, a natural disaster hit somewhere else it would have its own dedicated conservative channel playing it on loop.

I’ve lived through multiple hurricanes because I haven’t always lived in California. People from everywhere say that stupid shit about hurricane prone areas. Take the chip off your shoulder.

Conservatives are unironically like this. They cheer when we have earthquakes and fires.

All the comments from all cross posts on a single page is great. You can also add your own user flair like you could on Reddit, which lemmy doesn’t support. I haven’t messed with it much yet, but the ability to make lists of communities into feeds also seems really useful.

Absolutely none of the therapy techniques were truly effective for me until I was on the right medication. I’m not saying this is the case for you, but if you have honestly been struggling with everything you’ve tried, that’s not you not being good enough or trying hard enough. It’s just a sign you might need meds on top of it.

Just this morning, someone in a Discord I’m in (who wouldn’t just fake stories) was explaining how someone they knew had a psychotic break on psychedelics, and, in the ambulance, narrated the paramedics’ childhoods with disturbing accuracy

I think it’s entirely possible this person is being honest while also just not having a firm grasp over what actually happened, due to having a psychotic break from psychedelics. The paramedic simply agreeing to whatever they said (if the conversation did happen—I’ve been unsure whether a conversation I thought I had was real or not just from smoking too much weed) could have been interpreted as much deeper and more profound than it was.

None of this requires ill intent. The mind is just incredibly bad at making and retrieving memories in the way we want (infallible, like a video) even when you aren’t on drugs.
