Yeah, some are speculating it’s only $5-10 which honestly is even more of a reason it should be free.

Exactly, I don’t really see who is going to use the camera while undocked. They should have put a camera in the console and then have it peak over the top of the dock to work while docked.
I won’t be getting the camera at all tbh, but this is really cute.
Side note, kinda an oversight that they show the camera plugging into the top USB c port while docked. Hopefully the camera ships with a usbC to usbA adapter so it can be plugged into the dock.
For Switch: $300 from 2017 is $388 today.
For WiiU: $300 from 2012 is $415 today.
Don’t get me wrong though, the economic outlook today is bleak, I don’t disagree. And it seems a lot of people think it’s too expensive and it is rightfully theirs to believe so. We all need to make the best financial decisions for ourselves. At the end of the day this is a luxury product.
Ultimately I think price will be the subject of the conversation up until and after release, and only one thing will change the conversation and that is if the games are good. If Mario Kart World and DK Bananza knock it out of the park, people will not be talking about price, they will be talking about how much you need to play these games.
Very true. No disagreeing there. I just put the info for context
Nintendo consoles for me are just for playing Nintendo games. So it’s all about the exclusives. For 3rd party I have so many other places to play.
I never actually picked it up. So I might have to when I get a Switch2.
Very true. So this launch is actually pretty on par with switch 1.
With the mouse controls I am really wondering why we didn’t see even a tease of Splatoon 4.
I think with Nintendo’s art style 4k is possible. It won’t have photo realistic 4k
Yo…Ring Fit will work? Hell yeah
Also being able to use Joycon1 with any game is great.
$250 in 2006 is equivalent to about $400 today.
It’s odd because Donkey Kong is $69.99 and the MK console bundle gets you $30 off. My guess is that they are pushing the MK bundle hard because $450 is probably close to break even or loss leader for them. And going $530 was too high for the sticker price. Those that buy later will likely also get MK outside the bundle and then they are in the green. I bet the MK attach rate is going to be insane.
I also think the $10 more for physical versions is solely to push consumers to digital only. Also it frames the $80 price point as being “$10 cheaper” rather than “$10 more than normal”
I mean it’s subjective. But I get your point.
Yeah, it’s basically Mario Kart World and then Donkey Kong Bananza shortly thereafter.
As a reminder Switch 1 had the following first party titles in its launch window:
So knowing how those games went, and excluding the meh games. Switch 2 is really only missing 1 first party like Splatoon.
Also Metroid Prime 4 is in the middle space of being a crossover title.
Hate to break it yo you. Mario Kart MSRP is $79.99
That’s a bunch of bull. I deliberatly do not share analytics whenever given the option to opt-out.
Mario Kart World MSRP is $79.99 USD.

Console only is $449.99 USD. Mario Kart Console bundle is $499.99. See the new pinned post in this community to register to purchase.
So I have to say this was very underwhelming for me. Console launches are all about Games, Games, Games. And this announcement just didn’t have them. The console is cool and has a lot of useful features, but at this point it’s an approximate $450-500 (not sure exactly because they didn’t actually announce the price) surcharge to play…Mario Kart World, Kirby Riders, Donkey Kong Bananza, and a new From Soft game.
Two kart racers, DK, and BloodSouls is not motivating me to buy at launch.

Cons:
Missed Launch Opportunities:
At this point, I’m guessing they have a launch lineup, and then possibly a separate holiday lineup. Launch is for the Nintendo diehards, and Holiday is for the families and kids. Hopefully more announcements come soon. For me it’s a wait and see for more exclusives, which is the only reason I buy Nintendo consoles anymore.
Edit: Just checked and the From Soft exclusive is 2026. So not even a launch window title.
It might be possible. Nintendo says most usb-c cameras will work. There is a USB camera test section in system settings. So it all depends on how the USB-A ports are configured
