I know Lemmy is tech heavy, and that still passed completely unnoticed.
ROFL! I’ll see myself out.
I personally cannot distinguish satire from reality. And no, it’s not because I’m credulous, but because every day incredible things happen. I don’t need fake headlines that are just as crazy as the real headlines.
Similar. Riding on rollercoasters, watching wholesome cartoons, and reading good fiction don’t feel childish to me, they just feel like well-deserved fun. Why associate that with childhood, when childhood lacked freedom?
I wish it was the latest. This animal abuse has been going on a long time.
But even the prequels are speaking directly to Lucas’s feelings about Bush-era politics and the erosion of democracy, where the originals straight up talked about Nam and WWII. Idk, I guess I could understand the Andor hate if I hadn’t had a lot of years of people trying to make Star Wars be about the space swords. No cohesive plot, no commentary, no thought provocation, just one cool moment with a space sword leading to the next cool moment with a laser gun. Andor was like “hold my beer.” So refreshing.
Yeah, I get the pun, but. Just why.
Everyone has innate value by merely existing, so technically Mouse declared a deep personal wellspring of value. Could’ve been worse.
I always had vibes of why Click is so bad, that it cheats at evoking emotion, that the main character is an ass and still doesn’t earn his torture–and that torture goes on and on and on and …!–and that he doesn’t even learn any valuable lessons in the end!
Then Big Joel did me the favor of analyzing why Click is so terrible. So yeah, even without seeing CK, the choice is laughably easy.
There’s a video by Shaun that taught me pretty much all of this for the first time. It’s kinda sad that my history education was like “Bombs dropped, war over”
I love this one
I keep thinking about that, and I keep coming back to how the ones being lied to will double down on “but the ____ actually are very powerful! That’s why they’ve taken so much for themselves! That’s why they have so many protections!”
I’ve had a conversation like that.
Finish that “non-violence is ineffective” essay (it’s dense). Join the collective on the front lines. Results: A) we gather steam and ultimately succeed. B) martyrdom gives my death meaning. C) prison provides healthcare and three squares. D) prison is so awful that we revisit B.
I assume this is some third world health care bait though,
BuT mY cOuNTry is the bEsT!!!
As far as using non conventional pronouns irl, you probably haven’t heard it since it is genuinely dangerous to be outed in a lot of places.
This is usually true enough for rule of thumb, but can vary wildly by geography. I would be willing to help smuggle a gender minority out of a rural zone, whereas I wouldn’t be too surprised to hear “ze/zim” in some cities. In general, the GSRM community will appreciate a cis ally signaling ally-ship. OP, as long as it’s safe for you, the community would appreciate your announcing pronouns; it signals that you are not a totally garbage human.
Yes, it is a power that should be used responsibly. Just as one shouldn’t block every stupid commenter, only the egregious ones, the likes and dislikes should be saved pretty much for the bigots outing themselves.
How dare you. Now I’m going to remember your username. I will hunt down your IRL identity, and … send you sugar free gummy bears in the mail.
Seriously, though, haven’t you looked at a comment with up or downvotes and thought to yourself, “If I block every idiot that did that, my timeline would be a little less stupid”?
I heard a rumor you can look at the usernames who dislike a post or comment on a specific app. This is what I want: help taking the trash out.
Yep, the worst kind of story. “Be careful what you wish for, because you might get fine print.”
Main characters: make wish Monkey’s Paw: gives wish and something else Main characters: Oh, the problem was me wanting the reasonable thing, not that I trusted a really shady entity in asking for it! Me: May I leave this planet now?
