The only reason I can think of why a fridge should be connected to WiFi is to notify you if the door is left open, or the temperature is too high.

Digital display for thermostat/thermometer is nice.
Party Mode is convenient when adding large amounts of beverages (or leftovers) as it temporarily changes the compressor setpoint/cycle for a couple of hours in expectation of heavy usage.
Night mode / vacation mode can similarly change the compressor working profile to be either more quiet or energy efficient at times when it’s not expecting the door to open for extended periods of time.
None of these are essential features of a fridge, but they can be convenient.

VPN only works once you’re connected to a network (WiFi or cellular). If your phone doesn’t support the frequencies used by the cellular network operators in the country you’re visiting it can’t connect to the phone network.
This used to be a much bigger problem 10 years ago, but depending on where you’re going might still be worth looking into.
Sushi grade salmon seared for a few seconds is delicious.
(Take a chunk of salmon loin. Cut in finger thick slices. Sear in oil/butter for 5-10 seconds on each side. Enjoy the combination of fried and raw salmon.)

For most of them it’s not “laziness” but ignorance. They don’t know it’s an option, they don’t know why you’d want to do it, and the don’t know how to do it.

In some interpretation of copyright law, it’s considered a “transfer” rather than a “copy” if you destroy the physical original. (Ignore all subsequent copying of the digital version.)
Actually old and rare books are probably public domain, so that’s not an argument.
Also, most of the books they scan/destroy are low quality trashy novels that won’t even sell at thrift stores. But as they are written by humans it is still useful for training models.

It’s not the first time I’ve seen someone (mis)using the word “torrent” when asking about piracy in the 90s.

CMR is faster, but SMR is cheaper. (Very simplified.)
The worst about those is that they only give you 6 questions to choose from, and all of them are really bad as security questions.
They should have had a list of at least 20 to choose from. Preferably the ability to enter your own as well.
You forgot Africa and all the Mexican countries.
Another nice thing about Unbuntu was that searching for “Ubuntu your-problem-here” usually gave good results. Sometimes it could be a 10 year old forum post that was still relevant.
Searching for “Linux Mint your-problem-here” is more likely to give less relevant results.
