    1. Yes its just a remote server that you can torrent on

    2. Yes you get SFTP and shell (non-root/root depending on which provider) access

    3. Yes, you can with Deluge, rTorrent etc which run on seedboxes

    4. Depends on the provider, some seedbox providers don’t support public trackers (or cap upload speeds)

    5. Depends on the provider, major ones like seedhost or ultraseedbox don’t. And yes they can see what you transfer, it’s a shared linux server.

    6. No, you need root access to run torrents over a VPN, not available on shared seedboxes but you can do it on dedicated servers/seedboxes.

    7. I’ve tried seedhost, ultraseedbox, whatbox.ca, hostingby.design. all pretty good.

  • uh huh r/FULLCOMMUNISM, r/MoreTankieChapo, r/GenZedong

    also

Reddit banned about 2,000 subreddits on Monday, most notably r/The_Donald and r/ChapoTrapHouse, in a move the platform said was intended to crack down on online communities that “promote hate.”

In a Reddit post, CEO Steve Huffman said the decision comes after discussions about how the platform can “[close] the gap between our values and our policies to explicitly address hate.”

    sure, brigading, sure.

  • Also Lemmy don’t require too much of moderation ! as any user can use the block feature in their options removed externally hosted image so you should not censor content in behave of others !

way too vague. there is no such thing as absolute free speech. nowhere, not on the internet or in real life.

some of reddit’s actions are very much justified like banning r/jailbait r/watchpeopledie r/TheDonald. Others were clearly banned because it criticized capitalist status quo such as r/chapotraphouse

they can get to Europe because they are white enough. Its not an open air prison in the same way Gaza is.

Russian bombing campaign is nothing like Gaza. Gazans can’t obtain Israeli citizenship, Palestinian passports aren’t widely recognized. Meanwhile both Ukrainian and Russian passports are internationally recognized.

unless they accept Russian “citizenship”, that is

A citizenship is a citizenship. No need for quotes, Russian citizens can get Russian passports, get access to Russian benefits and travel.

    Stop making silly comparisons.

The only people who can be compared to the situation Palestinians are in right now are Rohingya Muslims.

sure, make comparisons between Nazi Germany, Apartheid Israel and … Russia

Are Ukrainians being crammed into a strip being bombed constantly without food or water? Russia despite being reactionary in many ways (eg LGBTQ rights) is relatively tolerant towards religious and ethnic minorities.

    Such malicious comparison. Fuck you.

  • I use wildcard tls certs and wildcard dns records for my domains. this ensures that no service can be easily accessed unless you have full domain name. For example If you have plex and deluge then you have to set dns records to plex.abc.xyz and dns.abc.xyz. This can be seen by anyone else trying to find vulnerabilities. But if you have wildcard certs/dns, all anyone can see from outside is *.abc.xyz, only the reverse proxy (eg nginx) knows the domain.

Don’t forward any ports unless you have to. Don’t run any service on 0.0.0.0 unless you have to. Incoming ports on the internet can be super dangerous.

A safe way to do self hosting is with WireGuard, just setup a wireguard container on the server then you can access all the services anywhere when connected from a client without exposing any tcp ports.

For connections why not try traceroute? mtr traceroute

To see things within a packet you can use WireShark.
