3·1 year agoThe expanse goes into some interesting generational changes between people who live on earth, Mars, and in the asteroid belt. Belters are tall and scrawny and when they go to earth they can’t stand and the gravity crushes their bones, extremely painful. The only way they can be there comfortably is in water. I’d imagine different areas with different "weather " would have different types of adaptations and travel wouldn’t be as common/easy.

36·2 years agoNo, I think the majority of people are fine being sheep. The size of the open source alternatives will never reach a number that plays a significant role otherwise they already would have e destroyed it.
Bidens neural implant was successful so she wasn’t needed. But seriously. It’s frustrating if the DNC used any common sense they could snuff the Republicans for the next few elections after what just happened with Trump. But instead they just decided to use the opportunity to be slightly less of a bad choice than the Republicans. They have to skate that line, they cant just put in someone who would be actually liked by the people. They have to install someone who plays as far by their rules as they can get and will also keep the election close so we don’t swing to far to the left.
Never really thought about that. Hmm. I mean, it’s GE, a somewhat reputable company, but apparently they were just bought out by a company in China. But it goes through my network, communicates with a cloud service, who communicates with the app on my phone. It would seem possible that whoever runs that cloud service has the ability to do whatever they want in my network through my fridge.
I run a raspberry pi for some automation in my house and use tailscale as a VPN so I can access it as a server when I’m not home. As long as I can trust tailscale, it is encrypted straight from the raspberry pi to my phone. There is no middle man. But having that cloud service for the fridge app is something I need to research.
I could maybe see some uses for a fridge on wifi. The only useful things it does is notify me if the temp rises beyond a point or if the door is left open for a really long time. As far as the temp rising without the door open the only cause is either the fridge failed ( It better fucking not) or the power went out. If the power goes out, so does my router so…
I was just using it as an example because I just figured it out on my fridge (it’s useless). I was just trying to figure out if I would be going backwards 10 years if I switched, that was just the first thing that came to mind as an example.
Does it run all the android apps? Like, the one off apps for like my fridge, security cameras etc…?
I am an American all aboard the “America has some serious issues” wagon, but dude not wearing ear protection was doing so against every single rule. If he got caught by the wrong person him and his boss would be in deep shit. Everything else you said is pretty accurate though. At least for big cities, the type of place tourists go. Just remember 90% of the country is not there. You visited the worst places in the country. It’s still bad though. It is a dog eat dog country and very little help for the needy. The help that there is takes so many hoops to jump through that some people with any problems just can’t do it and they don’t have any advocates.
