That’s the reason I came back to Debian after 3 years of fedora. Every major kernel update (sometime even a minor one) broke my shitty nvidia card driver.

6·2 months agoIt was not clear how exactly they extracted capabilities…using the service and making prompts?! If it was just that, that’s bullshit. AI companies have no moat…besides trillion dollar investments.

1·3 months agoOh no. I need my amphetamines to function (properly) but they will eventually kill me. What an impasse.

5·3 months agoWow! I have ADHD but I wasn’t aware of all that! The cardiovascular and cancer thing really got me! But yeah I feel you…some times I wish I had this phone addiction and none of the other symptoms.

Linux@lemmy.ml•best professional server Distro option?English
4·4 months agoI’d go with Debian but it’s just a personal preference. I had some difficult to set up a samba server the other day in one of my laptops that was running fedora because of firewall configs that I don’t use in Debian like adding context or something. Besides that, I kinda think dnf is better than apt in some ways but still use Debian on my home server. I just works

Music@lemmy.world•What band did you hear one song of, check the rest of their music, and find it was a one-off and none of their other music sounds like that?English
21·4 months agoPortishead - I remember listening to Glory Box and it was so cool I downloaded the whole album to check the band out… I felt kinda disappointed with the other songs…not garbage, but not quite as good as glory box.

3·6 months agoWhat you mean by black hole and filter? I blocked a bunch of tcl domains on my pihole and made my router drop everything in port 53 coming from every other device that wasn’t pihole. It seems to have worked for now… Is that a good solution?

Technology@lemmy.world•BYD’s Second-Generation Blade Battery Makes Western EV Tech Look AncientEnglish
2·6 months agoThe battery life and the cost to replace it is the one million dollars question nobody can answer (yet?) …I assume that this is why byd cars are cheap giving the amount of technology they ship in the cars…once we have the risk of having to pay loads of money to replace a battery gone or the actual cost to do it, we should see the prices normalized (without the risk discount)

I struggle with that…I’m not very popular and I’m afraid nobody will ever talk to me if I ask them to just use a different app. I’m in one group chat from my old army buddies and we barely chat…

Not a Dev but I used VScode and codium for a while trying to learn bow to program. Definitely more than it needs to be. Sublime was the longest Since I haven’t seen it here yet, honorable mention to Geany. Cool lightweight editor I’ve used a couple times.
