I didn’t know India was offered! After some reading (skimming) the US offer in 1950 was to replace China, but Nehru didn’t want to stir up controversy. The Soviet offer in 1955 might not have made any headway, but I’m not sure why that’s the case.

There’s an earth bending VR game out there. I forget the name.

Eyelashes? Soul patches.
India is known for vegetarian cuisine due to Hinduism. Jains are a small minority.
This has to be the most eat pray love meme I’ve ever seen. Hindus are vegetarian not vegan (disclaimer: they aren’t a monolith) and use a lot of ghee (milk product). That brown dude looks like a Sikh; they are typically not vegetarian or vegan.
Agreed, or a burner alternate email. If Google didn’t give any option other than phone number maybe we could make a case of ill intent.
I think the main driver here isn’t that they want your phone (although they’re happy to have it, I’m sure), but they don’t want the tech support headache of manually verifying and unlocking accounts for tons of people.
Can you describe some alternatives to a recovery phone or email? Honest question.
Most folks probably would. Privacy is often at odds with convenience.
I know this is old but in case you haven’t found it yet: !streetwear@lemmy.world
It’s a fair argument, but at this point, I suspect China would push back given their relationship with India isn’t the best. The major powers also probably don’t want to destabilize South Asia seeing as India’s rival has nukes and would feel extremely threatened. Idk I may be wrong.
