so we’re all clear. What is the difference between selling 100 copy’s at $5 vs selling 5 copies at $100?

Dev’s lock in prices at $100 and only discount down to 5%-10% because industry standards and publishers or some bullshit. They don’t care if I eat, I don’t care if the eat. Doesn’t matter how good the game is. This is how it’s always been in capitalism and to participate means neither of us care about the other one. If we maintained what these sales were like during the hayday, I’d go to bat for any of these devs. But I’ve seen the sales in the past few years. Minimal at best then posts like these saying “support them”. Eat shit.

You’re not a starving artist any more then we are. You want to create a world of maximized profits then don’t ask for sympathy and support when it takes away from my labor too. I will play the game like you and demand cheaper while you demand more money. Go figure games now are not great and maybe profits are up because prices don’t drop anymore, but there’s likely more starving artist types developing games now then there were during the great days because guess what got everyone into gaming then? Cheap sales and game prices we all could afford and play on our jank systems. Now they fuck us and say “support our full price game or you’re a piece of shit”

  • I would say the argument is that they feel they’re paying more for people who don’t deserve it. That the government and these businesses are constantly subsidizing by taking their pay cheque and handing it to people who refuse to work or decided to do drugs or making other bad life choices. The right tends to view things at an individual level whereas the left view things as a group. Both are right and wrong. If you’re paid $60,000 a year and some goes to a safe injection site, more goes to some carbon tax that nobody is really tracking, more goes to some dark slush fund nobody knows about. Over the years we all just get bitter and angry

  • For me it’s because you all never went far enough. It’s not about data privacy. It was always about data scarcity. You all wanted content creators to get paid while also using that same platform to keep your stuff private. Except the way content creators get paid is working for websites and corporations that steal your data and create profiles that information brokers can trade amongst themselves to build larger profiles where they don’t even need you to use any of their systems just to build your profile. But you like random bearded guy that makes cat comics. We should have always been hostile to anyone using the internet to create content in order to sell it.

  • The more successful you are the less you’re exploited. That’s a piece that pisses me off how the left keeps new generations hobbled their entire lives. So yes the harder you’re work means you are rewarded if you choose the right careers which is the point. I’ve met so many Lefty’s who refuse to pick a good career. Like 35 year old workers in the service industry who choose to be there that are angry they’re not granted more wages or benefits. I wish the left would adopt more of the attitude on the right which is just work hard.

  • Because you’re thinking about it wrong. With a bigger population it’ll cost more to influence them. If you ever watched how they did it in 2016, they started small, always. The first sub Reddit’s to see lots of opinion shifts where small subs like local interest before they moved on to the larger metropolitan ones. If you’re paying to influence people then you need a chain of initiation to start. This makes Lemmy a much greater target than Reddit. Look at opinions on AI. Lemmy was full on sharing multiple daily headlines like “AI is coming for your daughter’s” while Reddit thought it was just a neat tool.

    The goal is 10%

You need to create enough bots to maintain 10% of the content is favoring your view. If you can sustain that then opinions begin to shift for the entire group. People will start to join and create their own. That 10% is much easier to achieve in smaller places. Lemmy is perfect for it

“OOOOOooOOOOoO but I’d be a great hunter if we lived in huts Linda. I would be so alert Linda. I could see the patterns and get hyper focused on leaves and colors but no We’re stuck being wage slaves forced to live by timings set by normies instead of appreciating my talents if we lived with nothing.” - People with ADHD

  • Sure. Keep telling yourself whatever you need to justify all these losses every day. The left is cooked. There’s no coming back from this. It’s not the fault of the billionaires or the Trump’s or Nazis. It’s the fault of the left for giving it all up and being so unappealing that those assholes could grow and capture the people the left alienated
