  • I wasn’t advocating for the service. I asked who this service put peoples lives at risk. I condone all that you mentioned. It’s obviously a terrible service. However if it kept people alive then the food outweighed the bad.

These comments these people don’t understand mental health. Or maybe they do. Who’s to say. I contract for mental health charity. Do t even get minimum wage. We aren’t fully trained and have 1 phone line.

Yet I’ve talked down dozens of people in crisis and one on a roof. Service doesn’t charge and it’s not this corporate bullshit.

Fuck the CEO and the practice. However if it kept one person all be who otherwise would have died. ? In the any case. Fuck y’all.

    See you next year

  • Nothing works in a system failure. It’s a system failure.

They can only play their download games if it doesn’t need to access steam for a reason. Yeah you can go get a Nintendo 64 and play a game. Modern games require an internet connection. Yeah it’s a downside to it but it’s like saying you can’t play when it’s a powercut. It’s what board games say to video gamers.

Also true. An issue that has just come up with Ubisoft. They have discontinued a game. No way to access it. That’s probably the most legit point.

Very true. Look at Sony. Look at discovery. They aren’t refunding. Are you calling them failures ?

  • You should try apps. Be good UK try other side. Can always cancel after a trial period. It’s easier to block google pay than a card, but only by a fraction. Both can be completed in app.

That is true but it’s an antiquated system that requires updating. But I get ya.

My phone is password and fingerprint protected and I change the password regularly. No one would be attempting that. My Family members would never attempt something so brazen and my friends wouldn’t gain access. But again I can understand the point. It’s pretty out there. You could use the same argument for a card. If someone gets access to your card it has all the details available to you and doesn’t require password or fingerprint

In dome ways yes but that’s the system we live

  • Oh I don’t disagree with biometrics. They are the ultimate in security. But if you lose access you are fucked.

They could be spoofed. But each year it’s harder and harder and as I said. Petty crime would weigh up the odds. Contactless card that you can use a few times before locked or need to spoof a fingerprint to get into a phone and then use contactless.

I know which one id choose. Also we need to keep the phone connected to the Google account. Increasing my ability to trace you and retrieve my phone. Card will ping location but it doesn’t say where your house is. I can remotely lock my Google phone and trace it. Can’t do that with card. I think phone is a Much riskier endeavor.

And I will be er revert to using card. As states above it’s a worse experience in all aspects. Easier to lose card, easier to be stolen and worse protection. Always have phone on me and can do a multitude of jobs. Card can do one thing.

That’s the pay off isn’t it. Google data vs bank data. It’s the same data yet It inconveniences me more. Same outcome.

Literally no one is haggling. That’s a ridiculous proposition. When was the last time you haggle for a beer. Money is cumbersome and completely unnecessary. Yes it’s great for illicit nefarious reasons. 99% of people have no need for that. Cash means wallets pockets and then I’m stuck with useless change.

Cash hadn’t been king for a while. Jesus during COVID-19 places wouldn’t even accept it. Contactless or I don’t shop there.

  • They don’t have as good as first but they do obviously have some capacity. Plus you can use data. Obviously very expensive using data but you save not buying the console. It’s still where I think Google should have pushed. America didn’t want or need stadia. Same with Europe.

The games were discounted and you got free games in the paid tier. 10er a month for games. Not the worst deal.

Which is where they went wrong. They didn’t get the numbers as people already had gaming units that were better and faster… the issue

  • But it did I work. I used it. Many other used it. It was cloud gaming. What hadn’t been accomplished before.

That was an issue. However many companies aren’t profitable in their first few years. The toll out was a complete mess. Also as stated they chose wrong. I get why they picked murica. Infrastructure was always going to be an issue but that’s not where you get people looking to save money and not buy a console. Third world would have been the sweet spot. A rig they can play red dead for pennies.

They opened it up to phones and with Enough bandwidth you could play games you’d never manage before.

Yes but long run. Nobody thought Google was going to saunter in and beat the big Bois. Takes time to build a playerbase get the product actually working and improve it. None of that happened in first year.

  • It kinda is though. In terms of what others attacked it for. All the attack videos and yet I played it via VPN in a non supported country. Google fucked up by launching in America. A place with plenty cash and a spoiled player base. Where it would win would be poor countries. Just look at down votes ? For saying a device worked as intended. Tells you all you need to know.

Internet infrastructure was a big issue and games were mostly Ubisoft but still. What a game changer. Then I moved to GeForce and haven’t looked back.
