Recently needed to buy a KVM switch to swap between my work computer and my personal computer on the same monitor. Not a single brick and mortar store in my entire area stocked them.

I lived in a high crime area and I still didn’t have any packages stolen. I lost more packages to the delivery person delivering it to the wrong apartment versus porch pirates.

I’ve made posts both on this account and a different account from a different instance in the more niche communities that I’d like to see move here and got zero up votes, downvotes, or replies. I’ve even messaged the mods of those communities to discuss ways to get more traffic and got no response.

I’m willing to keep trying, but the majority of users aren’t and that’s something that Lemmy is going to have to overcome

I’ve had to go ham on blocking entire communities on here with Sync’s filter feature. Reddit at least has so many niche, active communities that you can actively avoid the /r/Europes and the /r/conservatives. With Lemmy, if I scroll through my subscribed communities, I get the same posts for days on end - if I scroll through everything, I get a bunch of Linux and FOSS circle jerks as well as “Tankies”, “Anti-Tankies”, commies, fuckcar communities that aren’t even realistic with the timescale they want things changes, and even more recently some posts from conservative communities.

Like, don’t get me wrong - I refuse to go back to reddit, but I’ve definitely had the desire to just quit using Lemmy because it feels like there isn’t much here for me.

The truth does matter, yes. We can’t sit around and complain about liars while also spreading misinformation.

My favorite response was somebody saying small towns in America should still have infrastructure and trains to connect them (which I agree with in theory) because every small town in the UK has them without even realizing there are small towns in the US that could fit the entirety of the UK between them and the nearest other town or city.

Nooo, I ended up having to filter the fuckcars community because they were angry at ANYBODY that uses a car for any reason - like top voted comments and posts. I saw somebody get jumped by multiple responders for bringing up how there are small towns and people that live hours away from large cities that would still need cars for transportation

Like, I’m as much for improving public transit and reducing the amount of cars on the road in every instance where it’s viable. I specifically moved within 10 miles of my job so I could start riding my bike to work instead of driving my hybrid car. It’s not that I’m pro car, I’m just anti-extremist

I feel like when the players are agreeing to play, it should be established up front how intense everybody wants it to be and, should a disagreement arise, there should be the ability to compromise.

We have different reasons for getting the hell away from reddit. I came to lemmy because reddit killed sync. I paid like $3 for Sync in 2014 and used it every day until Reddit killed it without seeing a single ad. So, not only do I disagree with Sync for Lemmy missing the point of getting away with reddit, but I also disagree with the notion that sink for Lemmy is in any way bad for having an ad - supported tier when you can pay a negligible amount of money ( $20 in 2023 ) and never see an ad again for the entire lifetime of the app.

Legit. I paid $3 for Sync back in 2014 and used it daily for nine years.

I’ve been using Sync for Lemmy since it was first released and I still haven’t seen an ad. I’m pretty sure it’s a bug.

I like having both 2D and 3D Mario games. I kind of fell off the 2D games for a while because I wasn’t enjoying the New Super Mario Bros Series of games. I’m optimistic that this will be more enjoyable

That’s my thing. I enjoyed it for what it was, but I could not call it GOTY. The police were barely implemented, the best gear at any point did not have any kind of theme so you were punished if you tried to get outfits that matched, and the shallow cybernetic system alone made me put it down before I could finish it.

I went in cautiously hoping for a RPG and what I got felt more akin to a baseline action adventure title with some numbers added in so they could pretend it was an RPG.
