For real? China is approximately libertarian? I’m not here to say China is worse than most others but it has a massive state surveillance operation. There is rampant censorship of opinions and media. The penalties for drug possession are severe. The economy is heavily influenced by the government if not centrally run. It seems pretty far from libertarianism.

Can confirm. 36k a year in the US thirteen years ago to run a ridiculously busy franchise Papa John’s and manage up to 40 people in the busy season. 60-70+ hours per week plus hours at home doing training, scheduling interviews, and making the schedule. On call at all times. Had to make that work for two people while my wife went to school in a difficult accelerated program for two years. If I didn’t “steal” food from work we couldn’t have made it.

The article on Mexican conscription does not mention if they are paid. If they have a living wage working five hours a day that doesn’t sound too bad. On the other hand if it’s five hours a day plus working to make enough to live, that sounds like hell.
