I sincerely hope that Grand theft Auto 6 ships and people find generative AI elements in it. I hope it’s one of those games that’s so Blockbuster it tells you you’re going to either eat your morals or you’re not going to get that thing you want.

I bit in response to the article itself and a bit in response to your(perceived) opinion on it.

A few points:

1. You misunderstood why you were shooting the Pinkertons. It wasn’t because you were forming unions, it’s because you were costing the government money.
2. You are overestimating the amount of people actually care about that sort of thing. The sheer numbers of people who say one thing and then spend their money however they want is exponentially more than any that would abstain.
3. GTA6 is going to be a zeitgeist touchstone game. People are going to buy it and play just so they won’t miss out and to be able to be a part of any conversation.
4. People aren’t going to pirate it. “But it’s easy! And it doesn’t give money to R*!”. Is it as easy as giving a clerk $80USD? Then people who couldn’t care less about the ethics of R* aren’t going to pirate it.

Oh, the content curation is going to go through tonial whiplash and I’m looking forward to it.

So THAT’S why they allowed Battlefield 6 to be so good. Had to pump up those player interest numbers.

Sure, and as a consumer of a product, you are within your rights to do so. But I think that a lot of times there’s an underlying thread of entitlement that comes with a lot of the criticisms. The tone suggests more ,“how dare you make something I can’t play” and less “I’m not suited for this challenge”. There’s surprisingly little in the way of complaints about the game design that read as things that fit the theme and game vision. There are a few, but most aren’t.

And full disclosure I’m speaking from the standpoint of someone who while interested in a lot of the “git gud” genre games, can’t cut it 90% of the time. It took me realizing that I just wasn’t who those games were for before I was able to look at some of my options and realize they were just me and my sour grapes.

I have to agree. Although I would have said “the real easy difficulty is realizing that not every game is for you”. And sometimes that includes really popular games, ones that everyone else seems to be enjoying. And that’s ok.
