This exactly. It’s an easily recognizable legal shortcut to a bunch of systems, rules and privileges that apply to the situation of two people wanting to live their lives together. Doesn’t have to cost much, if anything, and doesn’t have to have anything at all to do with religion or rituals. Can be just two people showing up at the town hall if you want it to be.

I had a kid three years ago, we decided to get a higher premium health plan that specifically had excellent natal coverage. It’s one of the most expensive plans available to us but we didn’t pay anything for 9 months worth of prenatal visits plus 3 days in the hospital. The coverage statement said that delivery from the hospital was something like $28,000 but the first bill we actually saw that we had to pay was for a hearing test that was only partially covered.

It’s definitely not Guild Wars 1, but it does still have a “low level cap” in the way that it’s extremely easy to get to max level doing a variety of content, then the vast majority of content is done at that level. You probably reach level 80 within completing not even 5%-10% of the total available content, so it’s just a number. The way you “advance” your character is through gear and cosmetics, and there’s an account leveling system called masteries you unlock at 80.

As a long time fan and proud GWAMM, honestly it doesn’t need the “classic” treatment. It’s still online, and the last major content patches didn’t change anything significant enough to alter the gameplay in a way that would make people “miss the old days”. They added some end game content and some quality of life improvements and some tools that allowed players to more easily solo content, then left well enough alone. It still has a small core of regular players, and has the event schedule going on auto. I suppose they could do some graphical improvements but it’s still a very good game as it is

I am a big fan of the books, read all of them plus shorts a couple of times now. Sure I would have cast a different look for Murderbot but they have direct quotes and scenes straight from All Systems Red right there in the trailer. I am also a fan of the Witcher books and Wheel of Time, so in contrast to those adaptations I am hyped haha.

Yeah, since that unfolds later on maybe they can sneak it in without too much feather rustling. It’s not out front and center and they could include it without making it a focus pretty easily. Bojack Horseman did it, hopefully they won’t balk at it.

Really enjoyed the whole series, and when I heard about the adaptation I was psyched. It’s a very cinematic series that is begging for adaptation. While there’s definitely a lot of deadpan humor in the books, the trailer seems a lot more “whacky” than it should be. Hopefully they’re just playing it up for the trailer. I was also hoping for a more androgynous/NB murderbot but I could be won over. Either way, I’ll definitely be watching

For a while, I played the MMO Guild Wars 2 as a music simulator. It has playable in game musical instruments that you can equip, and play with the number keys. A-G are represented with the numbers 1-8 with 9 and 0 swapping an octave lower or higher. Killing monsters? Doing dungeons? Raids and world bosses? Nah I’m just chilling on a beautiful forested cliffside near a waterfall figuring out an arrangement for the Lord of the Rings theme.

Cute idea, but disappointed that it’s just a reskinned car racing game. I read the title and I imagine a “cat scale” racer, running around indoors having to jump sofa arms and climb cat towers or doing an obstacle course in someone’s yard, going under bushes and through kids forts etc. Just realizing now a cat parkour game in the style of Mirror’s Edge would be good silly fun.

I actually love that everything he does sounds different. There are so many artists that have a specific “sound” and stick to it forever. He’s experimental and adventurous and tries so many things, lot of stuff that’s unique and interesting, and other stuff that’s not for me, but it’s clearly for him. I think it’s a sign of creative joy.

There’s some good stuff in Adrian Tchaikovsky’s Children of Time series about non-human intelligence and societies that I found compelling and very thoughtfully composed. It comes from a grounded place, and especially the first two books do a great job of building up concepts of civilizations that feel truly foreign but make a lot of sense in the universe. The difficulties in cross-species communication are addressed and made to be a focus and feel realistic. I’m being deliberately vague because part of the fun of the books is seeing how far things go.

I’m a lifetime Windows user. I used to have to type run win3.exe on my first computer. I installed Linux mint on my new pc build a couple weeks ago and have been moving in and getting everything set up. Some people absolutely will make the change.

Whatever you want. Find something that brings you joy and try to do more of that. If it’s important to you to leave a legacy, try to connect to others and be in their lives. Try to make good, meaningful changes to the world, even if they’re small. Our existences are only so long, and worth enjoying.

Part of the pros of it being so long is by the time you’re done you can start over again and it feels fresh hahs.

Been playing GW2 since beta, but haven’t been that active since I had my a baby. I’ve played thousands of hours, have over 40k AP, was even mildly famous in the community for a bit, but I just haven’t had the time for any games lately. It’s still my favorite though, I love the art, the music, the player centric design and how they really try to make a fun experience and not waste your time. I tried Star Trek Online because I heard they had screen writers from the shows writing some of the content, and had enough fun to max a couple of characters and upgrade a ship or two and then they raised the level cap on me and made it all obsolete. I quit. I have no patience to put up with that kind of crap. I’ve been spoiled by GW2’s design philosophy, and they’ve proved worthy of my trust and time. I recommend it to anyone looking for an MMO.

I mean, yeah it feels like ADHD talk is everywhere here because there’s a lot of ADHD people on Lemmy. That’s just because of the nature of the platform and a big chunk of who it appeals to. You don’t think that we might be able to recognize thoughts, patterns, behaviors and emotions that we ourselves have gone through? Sure OP might not have it but it doesn’t do any harm for them to learn it’s a possibility and do more research into it.
