Unfathomably based
They don’t want to show both because that would show readers exactly when a couple thousand new accounts all start talking about one polarising topic to get everyone agreeing.
I don’t even think there was an increasing trend DURING C19
I didn’t live in a big town during the happenings, but would regularly see people openly coughing, touching their faces and touching absolutely everything they can.
I’m just amazed we didn’t wipe out more of the population
My go-to is a level teaspoon of honey mixed into the kind of coffee that looks like black tar, for a beginner I’d suggest buying some of those paper coffee filters and a holder that sits on top of your cup, and a small bag of a ‘3’ strength (most supermarkets do a 2, 3, 4, and 5 roast)
See how the flavour suits you, and experiment with different roasts
If you want to get instant coffee go for Dowe Egberts (the glass jar with the gold label) because it’s one of the nicer options (for now, until keurig/dr pepper turn it into just another mass produced coffee)
Ahh that makes a lot more sense
Cheers for the clarification
Oh nice one, that’s kinda cool
See I thought the curie temperature was a ‘one and done’ sort of deal where you have to go through the process of remagnetizing the magnet after it had gone beyond that point.
Not sure where they said they “did an entire presentation on this thing” or where they got their information from. I’m only adding some context to what I know of how thermostats work. I would gladly admit I’m wrong if provided with some evidence.
If you want a visual demonstration of a thermostat working here’s a video.
(For context I don’t mean to come across as one of those “well ackshually” asshats, I just like watching people take apart electronics (was also slightly obsessed with magnets as a kid. MANY hard drives were sacrificed to my curiosity lol).)
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curie_temperature I doubt they’re using magnets, especially considering how hot they have to get to lose their magnetism as you suggest.
Most thermostats in electronics such as kettles and cookers use a bi-metallic strip inside, where the two metal layers expand at different rates. The contacts in the switch are physically pulled apart by the strip bending when the desired temperature is reached. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bimetallic_strip

I don’t know, everything I do could be silly, but it’s normal to me
To tack on to the “Exercise really helps” messages; I can definitely recommend checking your local areas for things like climbing or bouldering gyms (Bouldering is the one where the wall is shorter but more ‘technical’ and you use crash mats instead of ropes) The people that frequent these gyms are usually real welcoming to new climbers, and the sport itself is a satisfying mix of having a low cost to entry, only being as difficult as you want it to be, thrilling when you finally figure a route or feel yourself progressing, and a little mentally involved (planning routes, judging distances and learning safe techniques)
(There’s also a lot to be said for just going for a walk, since that’s so cheap it’s free, but there isn’t aircon :D)
Absolutely 100% agreed on the “go for a walk” recommendation.
Take half an hour out of your day to raise your heartrate, you’ll not only get your brain to start processing the things it’s dealing with, but you’ll also get exercise and a change in scenery.
If the weather’s trash, clean or tidy your living area, the effect of having a clean space is very well documented (the “Even as a human, you are still an animal, and animals in enclosures get stressed and depressed if there’s mess everywhere, so take charge of your own space and make it a comfy one.” Meme that’s floating around is genuinely real and not just lip service)
Personally the ‘I can’t motivate myself’ thing is a trap I’ve fallen into many times, and just about the only thing that helps me is by saying “Bugger it. I’ll do a little bit, and if I get out there and really ain’t feeling it, I’ll have at least done something.”
Above all else, taking care of your body is a fast track to your brain feeling better
Protip; make sure to check the material is genuinely safe. Stainless steel, Glass and Platinum Silicone are about the only ones you want to get intimately involved with.
A lot of toys these days are made out of unsafe silicones (anything plastic or flexible that isn’t made from platinum cure silicone will leech toxic chemicals over time) TPE, PVC, ‘jelly rubber’ and a number of other plastics. Because of the way they’re made, these materials are porous, so will build up pockets of bacteria that can’t be cleaned off with boiling or bleaching, simply because they break apart under high temperature or chemicals.
Short and sweet of it is that by spending a little more to get something that’s worth it, you won’t be putting your health at risk (also treat yourself, because nobody deserves a bad toy)
If strength and weight wasn’t an issue then compact folding is entirely possible, considering how they’ve been using foldable solar panels on satellites since the early days of spaceflight
A rolled panel however would have to use very thin and small cells, which would be less efficient
