I always heard it as “dollars to donuts”.
Me. It is me. For my friends I am that person!
Not from .world, but I thought I’d put in my .02 about Lemmy.one.
For the first few months after joining Lemmy, I bounced around signing up on several different instances looking for a place that felt like “home”. I liked the simple, straightforward name of Lemmy.one, so I tried to sign up there. I got a message that said my registration required authorization. I waited a few days and didn’t get anything, so I messaged the mod, Jonah. I got no reply, so I waited some more, and tried to message him again with no response. I did some digging and found a couple of other email addresses of his outside of Lemmy. I sent emails to those addresses, and to this day, almost a year and a half later, I never got authorization on Lemmy.one nor did I ever get any response in any way from Jonah.
I found a relatively local instance for me with a name I love and great, responsive mods, so it worked out for the best as I’m super happy.
That’s quite the headline…
Man, that all makes perfect sense, and I appreciate the reply. Thanks for laying out the challenges for a small dev to develop for iOS.
I actually like the look of Mbin and Piefed, but like I said, I use Voyager to surf Lemmy a lot of the time, and Voyager doesn’t support Mbin/Piefed. I’d be willing to try and maybe switch to a different app, but there’s currently no iOS app for either. I’m not above using a PWA, but the Piefed instance I signed up to doesn’t even offer an actual PWA, but just a bookmark that opens Piefed in a Safari tab.
So, to bring it back to the original question, that’s the reasons that Piefed is a no-go for me.
One word - Apollo. Reddit killed it, and I left and came to Lemmy. Much happier here with more authentic engagement, and Voyager gets the job done.
I can’t say I never go back over there, but it’s almost always for live sports threads. Those just haven’t caught on yet here, though it slowly seems to be happening.
Woooo boy you told me! 🙄
Actually this thread is about Piefed (spelled correctly just for you), not correcting people who are correcting people, so now you’re in the wrong.
You’ll excuse me, but my eyes rolled so hard, I have to go try to get them back to the front.
I wasn’t trying to be derogatory, I know that outside the US Android is the dominant platform, but in the US it’s iOS. (I actually thought the percentage of iOS users would have been a little higher.)
That’s an interesting assumption that the Fediverse skews Android, I’d like to see some numbers on that.
You may not be from the US, but in the US smartphone market, as of late 2024, iOS (Apple) holds a larger market share than Android, with iOS at around 58% and Android at 42%.
If you want to debate Apple, start another thread. This post is about Mbin and Piefied, and for me, I use Voyager on iOS to surf Lemmy. I don’t want to switch to or recommend Mbin or Piefied if there’s not an app for it and the best I can do is a PWA.
Don’t try to hijack the thread to push your anti Apple agenda. You can dislike Apple all you want, just not in this thread.
MBin does have one.
…for Android. Nothing for iOS.
Read all about it in this month’s riveting issue of Duh.
Yeah, me too, but it seems to be increasing in frequency. I’m just wondering if others are seeing the same thing, or if I’ve somehow been targeted.
This is me almost to a tee, which is why it’s easy to spot the spam. (Aside from, y’know the scantily clad pic and link to OnlyFans.) If I get a new follower, it’s usually someone who starred or boosted something I posted, not some random follow out of the blue.
HOLY CRAP, I just got another one since I posted this.
I think I’ve gotten five over the last couple weeks (including the two overnight last night).
Yeah, my personality is one in a quadrillion all right. Just not in the way that would attract scantily clad OnlyFans models. 🤣
You’re not thinking of Tim Walz are you? This is someone different.
