I believe it’s mentioned in an issue in the official Thunderbird repo that from now on the Flatpak is maintained by the main Thunderbird dev team, so the Flatpak repo is archived and all Flatpak packages from now on will be uploaded directly by the devs.

But it does not work well at all, especially when you try to get the mouse cursor to a certain coordinate. The same coordinate gets different results every boot for some reason.

You also have to run a background service for it to work.

How is “GNOME is bloat” an objective fact? Maybe to you GNOME is bloat because you don’t use it. But they use GNOME, so it’s not bloat to them.

Conversely, if they don’t use XFCE, then having XFCE installed by default is a bloat to them.

Maybe I shouldn’t have said all, but it’s annoying to me when the they put a “k” in the name in a very awkward way just because it’s an KDE app.

Seems like I’m the outlier here that prefers Gnome over KDE. Gnome feels more polished than KDE for me. Granted KDE comes with more features out of the box, but I don’t find anything lacking in Gnome for me.

Tried KDE long time ago to compare it to Gnome 3, went back to Gnome. Tried KDE again a few months ago to compare to Gnome 42, came back to Gnome again.

I also can’t stand having all my programs’ name starting with K.

The thing that is the most annoying about the same username on different servers is that most of the time only the username part is shown (for example on feeds and comments). So a troll could make accounts with the same username on a different instance and discredit the original comment. For example, you are kadu@lemmy.world, I could create kadu@lemmy.ml and say stuff here, and both of us would just show up as “kadu” and to others it might seem that we are the same account without going into our profile to see our full “address”.

Yep, that’s exactly what I mean. Coverung the same ground, but they are different communities with different moderation, so it can’t be merged, but it make sense to group them together and view it as a “playlist”. Just like Whitney Houston and ABBA don’t collaborate to make albums, but it make sense for their songs to exist together in a playlist called “Songs from the 80s”.

True, but they are all with different names, and they are not completely the same (as in different rules, more specific topic vs general topic, etc). But on Lemmy there is a possibility that two communities having the same exact topic and name for example !technology@beehaw.org and !technology@lemmy.ml, they are both discussing technology (and not any specific difference between them).

I think this is currently one of the biggest problem of Lemmy on the UX department. Non technical users from Reddit will only expect one “subreddit” for a theme, but if they search on Lemmy, they’ll find more than one community with the same topic, and it’ll confuse them and make them less likely to come back.

But that’s the way how Fediverse work, so I don’t think combining two communities should be done from the Fediverse side, but rather each Lemmy instance can curate a “playlist” or “multireddit” that has some of the biggest communities from the users’ server and other federated servers about the same topic, and users can subscribe to the “playlist” rather than individual community.
