Me and my brothers when mom yells not to run in the house.
There is sure to be some of that, but they will at least get the blame for when it goes poorly.
They are obligated by many of their corporate and government clients to patch any security flaws and fix bugs.
I would prefer that they don’t touch what is working and just focus on fixing bugs and security issues.
This moving feature set and release of half finished software approach is why people have hated windows so much since the windows 8 days.
I am sure they have the pressure of expectation on the, but from how genuine they come across, they were inspired and shared their father’s and mother’s (don’t forget her) love for animals.
I am not sure that can be faked so convincingly.
Mint is a really good distro for people coming from windows 7 UI wise.
They also ripped out Snaps, which is half the performance problems with Ubuntu
I would support a law that requires software companies to open source software that they discontinue support on.
That way, companies that disappear don’t have their customers at risk.
And software companies will support software for longer.
Year of the Steamdeck. Praise Gaben!
I think power draw is a better measurement for efficiency.
Making it more practical. Most people have more RAM than they need, but everyone is limited by battery capacity on laptops.
I suspect that packaging has a lot to do with it. I also value power draw as a better metric for determining efficiency compared to RAM usage.
I found a lot of the same. For me I resolved this by changing a few things.
Linux mint Cinnamon draws 5w on idle only laptop. Ubuntu stock draws 8w. Manjaro plasma uses around 7w.
Can we get this formally defined in law as willful destruction of property. No exceptions.
Yep, the US government used to break up monopolies and it greatly benefitted the boomers.
They explained that they fear malware infected clones would damage their reputation at this early stage and draw unwanted attention while they build a user base.
Not sure I agree, but they at least explain the thinking behind it.
I think the issue is large organizations are inefficient and inflexible, be they government or corporates.
You want small lean groups with a lot of autonomy.
It’s worse, it’s not the farmers that get the support. It is the corporates that own the farms that get the support. They are the ones driving unsustainable practices.
I agree with you, so let me clarify
In my experience South African people feel very much the way you are describing and rightly so.
But when it comes to the ANC, they only do things that are to their personal benefit, there is no humanity there. If they do the right thing, it’s purely an accident.
They are a kakistocracy and a parasitic government. They add no value and they do not protect its citizens. At least since the early-mid 2000’s.
The ANC simply has sold out to new masters. They are all very black ownership and empowerment when it comes to giving tenders to companies, but the moment the russians or the Chinese are involved and the bribes get paid, all those principles are out the window.
The ANC is also anti Ukraine independence.
And they sell arms to the russians.
Not saying there are not good reasons to disfavour Israel, but cutting diplomatic ties is stupid. It’s basically telling Israel to do their own thing, because we are going to stop talking to them.
To explain this to non South Africans.
The ruling ANC party is in the pocket of the russians.
The majority of South Africans think they are just following the policies of their masters.
Agree on this. Servethehome on YouTube has a series on different 1 litre PCs they review in detail.
The sluggishness you experienced has a lot to do with Ubuntu itself. At its base it’s a very good OS, but canonical is messing up on the details.
Ubuntu derivatives like Linux Mint or PopOS have spent a lot of time resolving this. They perform very well for most and have got excellent stability because their software stack is a little older.
For gaming, fedora is probably the base OS that most prefer at the moment. It’s at a good balance point of stability the latest tech.
The other option if you want to go more bleeding edge is Manjaro, but expect some things to break on occasion.
