I agree. Lemmy doesn’t have to replace Reddit, it just has to be a working alternative.
Over time Lemmy may gain a much wider audience, but as long as it has enough users to be entertaining and informative, then it will be a good alternative to corporate social media.
Because they don’t have the artistic skill themselves and they are parasitic by nature? So they latch onto a tool that itself is a parasite?
Reddit is too popular now. They’re going to have an IPO eventually and then it will really go down hill.
Might as well get on the ground floor of something new.
Once they solve the density problem with sodium batteries, they will be so much better than lithium alloy.
I’m 51 and started using the internet before HTML was a thing. This feels polished but also old school in a usenet / mud / telnet kind of way.

If they are banned on their home instance, then are they banned everywhere? Does it work like an email address, where if your hosting server (Gmail for instance) bans your email address, then you can no longer send or recieve emails?
So if your home lemmy server bans you, then how could you ever post anywhere else?
