My parents’ conservative bubble of news has informed them that the starvation is because Hamas shoots at Palestinians who try to get aid.
(I told them, “Wow, so Hamas and the IDF have something in common?”)

Some of my friends and I in a D&D campaign managed to talk our way out of so many encounters, and heist our way through so many quests, that we started calling ourselves Ocean’s Five. It was some of the most fun I’ve had in that game, improving our way through heists and getting away with it.

I can understand that you don’t have those in Canada, but there should be other options right? Maybe contact support?
I think you’re on the verge of understanding the problem. You’re so close. Just trust that the guy you’re replying to isn’t an idiot and you’ll finally understand.
Sure in the Netherlands you have options. But other places aren’t the Netherlands. Different countries have different options, but Visa, MasterCard, and PayPal work pretty much everywhere.
Edit: Completely unrelated, I’m munching on some licorice Mentos I found in the Dutch section of my local grocery store here in West Michigan, and I just want to thank the entire population of the Netherlands for the wonderful things y’all have done with licorice. No one likes it here, so no one bothered. But the variety your country comes up with for this stuff, it’s fantastic.

I loved Descent: Freespace, but I liked X-Wing: Alliance better.
Sometimes they actually make funny satire. Other times they make cruel or outright misleading headlines. The actually funny stuff helps them sell the propaganda to their base without being questioned.

Intermittent fasting.
Like any form of weight-loss the real mechanism is a calorie deficit, but intermittent fasting makes that really easy for some people. I lost like 30lbs in six months. Takes a bit to kick in but then goes pretty quickly.
Unfortunately, losing weight is a long journey. People who are very overweight have more fat cells than others (because those cells divide when they get big enough) and those fat cells WANT to hold onto fat. And they’ll release hormones to achieve that goal. So your body will desperately be calling for you to overeat.
This is part of why weight-loss tends to be a spiky line for people. I gained back all of the IF weight I lost, and then some. Still below my highest recorded weight by a good 20lbs, but I’m just now getting back on the IF horse, hoping to make better progress this time.

I’m not sure where midband 5G falls, but it’s significantly faster than LTE with much more range than the millimeter wave 5G.

Okay, well, again, don’t use disposables. Get your eliquid from a reputable shop. Or mix your own. I did, it’s not hard.

Update: The psychiatrist who looked at her said she had too much weed -_- . I’m really disappointed in the doctor but she had finally slept and sounded more coherent then
There might be something to that. Psychosis enhanced by weed is not unheard of. As I’ve read, weed has been shown in studies to bring out schizophrenic symptoms in people predisposed to it. Not that it causes it, just brings it out in some people.
I say this as someone who loves weed and consumes it frequently. Just like any psychoactive chemical, it’s going to have different effects on different people. We all know alcohol causes psychosis all the fucking time but we just roll with it.

Man, I miss that first fire of a fresh coil before you’ve wicked it, letting it get red-hot and then pressing it together to solidify the shape. Watching for shorts. On complicated windings it’s always so pretty.
Glad I don’t still consume nicotine, but there were parts of the process I loved.

If you’re blowing clouds like that you’re not using the disposable vapes the article talks about. You’re using sub-ohm coils and a larger rig capable of heating coils designed for the task of making big clouds. You’re also using a liquid with a relatively low concentration of freebase nicotine.
Disposables vapes use higher concentrations of nicotine in a salt form rather than freebase, and much smaller quantities of liquid per puff, to deliver a hit that feels more like a cigarette.
Back when I vaped I made my own coils, though eventually I moved on to temperature-controlled ones, which require a purity of metal not found in the cheap-ass nic-salt disposables.
The toxicity is from the coils in the disposables, not from the eliquid and not from rigs.

The lack of color isn’t the default, it’s an option (an evolution of one that already have). By default everything is still colorful.

That example photo is with the icons set to white (or similar). By default the icons are still colorful. They showed it off during WWDC and it looks mostly good.

Maybe. I suspect it will be much better than last time.
Processing power is much better now than in 2006. Back then it was about having some blurry transparency and lots of light beams and lens flares and shit, because it was easy to layer that over stuff. This is going to be more about refraction at the edges and clarity in the centers, with frosted looks as background when needed.
I am hopeful, it looked mostly good in the WWDC video, with only a few examples of poor legibility that hopefully will be ironed out.
I’m personally ready to move on from the flat look as long as it remains cleaner than Frutiger Aero. I miss having depth in my UI.
You linking that also-fantastic post is one of the funniest things I’ve seen all day. Well done! I laughed my ass off.

Didn’t TIE bombers bomb asteroids in TESB when Solo and crew were hiding in a giant worm? Sure looked similar, IIRC.

Uh… didn’t this happen like 7 years ago when they stopped using intel chips?
I think they were still releasing updates for the non-Apple Silicon Macs, which meant Hackintosh was still possible.
Also why not just buy a pc to do this diy-adjacent bullshit? Not like you can’t get Mac equivalent (or better) hardware for literally the same price these days. It’s not 2004.
That’s what a Hackintosh is though. It’s running Mac on non-Apple hardware.

My grade school bully is serving life in prison for attempted double homicide. IIRC he’s also a sex offender.
Obviously the decisions he made as an adult are his responsibility, but honestly I feel bad for him. He didn’t have much of a chance. His home life was terrible, and he took it out on those around him. He had no positive role models in his daily life besides those at his school, who were always punishing him because he couldn’t conform to a world utterly foreign to his own where people weren’t constantly shitty to one another, and the school didn’t have any better idea how to handle him. The kid had no support. His father was in and out of jail/prison, his mother was overwhelmed. He fell through the cracks.
It’s no surprise he turned out a piece of shit.
That doesn’t excuse his actions. Plenty of people come from difficult origins and are good people leading decent lives.
But I do pity him.

Some of that has disappeared with RCS support, fortunately.
But yes, Apple successfully positioned their texting app as a rich formatted chat app when used between iPhone users, behaving more like WhatsApp or KakaoTalk or other chat apps than like traditional texting. But when messaging people without iPhones, it was just standard texting (worse, since they would degrade the quality of MMS images more than necessary, as I understand). To the uninformed, this seemed like everyone else were the ones lagging behind. “How could your phone be any good? Images you send are terrible. I can’t name chats that have you in it. If I react to your messages it spams the group chat.” Etc.
Brilliant, but absolutely evil, move by Apple. Unfortunately it worked. The only reason I use an iPhone today is that years ago I got tired of being left out of conversations and media sharing by my family and my wife’s family, who all use iPhones. So when my OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren Edition died an early, watery death (rest in peace, king among phones) and nothing else really wowed me in the Android space at the time, I bit the bullet and went to the dark side. I enjoy the iPhone, but I’m still bitter about why I got it.
Also potato cakes. Mmm.
