Seems like rather similar options to me?
But I have to admit to never having used either anyway.

yeah, it doesn’t destroy anything on the worldwide scale.
but it weakens.
erosion is a rather perfect term for it

interesting, as her service is illegal.
but well deserved, as it clearly shouldn’t be.
exciting!
not useful yet, but give it a few years, and it may just be grand.

And I think it’s also not considered safe enough to retrofit gravel traps into places where there are safer solutions (like tarmac run-off)
There are dangers of cars digging in and flipping if I recall.
how about gitlab as a self-hosted alternative?
I mean, you still need object detection and recognition with lidar, don’t want to stamp on the brakes for a leaf.
And using only the primary sense of humans does kinda make sense.
still think it’s tough call. Would be great if you don’t need it. And don’t know how expensive it would have been, especially at the start for all the people needing the hardware but not actually getting the use out of it.
otoh the only really successfull company in the space - waymo - uses it, that seems like a really strong sign
To dicover streams from owncast Owncast Directory
I wonder how much capability for a community-server there is though.
like a few content creators coming together to pay for it, because right now it seems like it’s exclusively self hosted from the streamer

the ton of games doesn’t run natively, they run well, but through a translation layer (wine/proton)
You may be thinking of motioneye - https://github.com/motioneye-project/motioneye, which integrates with HASS fairly well if I remember.
Pretty sure I was, thanks!

Rightly so, see this current Thread: Microsoft wants to move Windows fully to the cloud
Windows 365 is a service that streams a full version of Windows to devices. So far, it’s been limited to just commercial customers, but Microsoft has been deeply integrating it into Windows 11 already. A future update will include Windows 365 Boot, which will enable Windows 11 devices to log directly in to a Cloud PC instance at boot instead of the local version of Windows.
If Microsoft really wants to slowly kill “local windows”, Valve would be fucked if there is no way for gamers to game locally.
It’ll be hard enough to compete with “performance on demand” anyway, at least until Microsoft pushes the pricing back up after luring everyone in.
See Netflix, everyone loved it, no-one bought DVDs/BlueRays, and now everyone hates Netflix for raised prices, going after password-sharing, cancelling shows etc.
I expect exactly the same with “cloud PCs”

Yup, that was what I understood it to be, I’ll admit to just skimming the article, but it seemed rather directly that?

So if I don’t have an internet connection, I can’t even boot my computer?
While I personally hate this Idea as well, I have to admit, that there could certainly be rather significant upsides for users.
Cheap Chromebook-like Laptops, but can run Video Games, Video Encodings, Finite Element Analyses, Computational Fluid Dynamics etc no problem. “Your” PC can be accessible from your phone in a Pinch.
You open a weird Link and got a Virus? No problem, just roll back your “PC”
Your home floods/burns down? All the images from your children are still safe.
Never being bothered by needing a hardware upgrade.

wasn’t the total investment at that point 200M?
Quite a while ago, I used motion.
It’s fairly basic, but did all that I needed. It’s standalone, so no integration with home-assistant, at least not to my memory.
I seem to remember that there is something that builds up on motion, and I dimly remember a web-interface, but can’t find the package right now.
Maybe an okay starting point, if no-one points out something better

while I referenced DVD on the top end, I was assuming Blue Ray for the game fyi.
not sure how big the game is, but rather sure it fits in <4 Blue Rays.
I think for USB drives and micro SD the durability is terrible (like trying to read it after 5 years has a 10% failure rate, No Idea about the stat, just to illustrate)

then put in X Disks.
we did that with (floppy) disks forever, and CDs too.
I don’t remember any DVDs using that, but they surely existed
Fdroid can share Apps from people with Fdroid near it.
Fdroid basic can’t do that, but with Android 13+ you don’t need root (and jump through hoops) do do automatic updates with it. Fdroid needs you to confirm every single file to be installed (without things like privileged extension)
Android <13: Fdroid
Android >13, Generally Fdroid Basic, and Fdroid for edge-cases where Fdroid Basic crashes, or the Internet is down but you really want to install a new app that your buddy has.
But where? Taiwan seems the obvious candidate. Not sure if that would really lead to (quaterly) economic growth though.
