I normally use ironfox, but honestly I don’t really have the technical knowledge to know which one is better. I use iceraven for some stuff because it let’s you use desktop firefox extensions. With ironfox I just use ublock and noscript, I don’t want any extra stuff that can leak data or assist in fingerprinting my browser.
I installed iceraven on a new device a few days ago and I had to turn off mozilla data collection during the set up process.
Yeah I think they would have had to slow down or stop sales and make a big deal about reworking their production lines for better QC. Then come back a year or two later with actual improvements. I think Tesla probably have enough brand recognition that they can survive without Musk so hopefully they kick him out.
I think the US car industry as a whole is due for a major price adjustment, so I kind of see that as it’s own issue. Car prices need to be cut at least in half to make them practical as utility items. We’re being asked to drive vehicles that costs as much as a house did 30 years ago, and are approaching the same size, on the highway and leave them parked inches from each other.
My main point against the idea is that they wouldn’t need to hide the fact it was happening. If it were possible with current tech there would already be some AI subscription bullshit that listens and takes notes on everything you do all day.
Honestly most people I saw outside of the hardcore tech sphere were excited about apple intelligence until it became clear what a shit show it was. I don’t see how it was supposed to be any less invasive than windows recall but it got a completely different reaction. You just need a good advertising/propoganda department and people will pay you for the privilege of being spied on.
I think it has to do with whether or not the battery has a current going through it while hot. I imagine heat probably makes the lithium more soluable in the electrolyte liquid, then the disolved material migrates with the current flow. Heating it without a current flow might allow it to redissolve and at least distribute it more evenly so it doesn’t make one long spike that shorts the battery.
I’ve used Tutanota for a long time with no issues.
For the keyboard I would try Florisboard on f-droid, it gives a lot more spacing and sizing options. I basically make the keys as wide as possible and then play with key height. The bottom offset let’s you raise or lower the keyboard as a whole to suit your grip.
I was a long time AnySoftkeyBoard user until a year or two ago when I finally decided Floris was just better. I’ve tried FUTO keyboard a little bit, it seemed fine but didn’t offer enough customization options.
Calyx has you relock the bootloader similar to graphene so it shouldn’t flag as rooted.
Not exactly the same situation but I’ve noticed that Chrome has moved from only being virtually unusable with my VPN running, to actually unusable. It just refuses to resolve URLs and won’t search, previously it just gave tons of Captcha popups if I tried to do anything. Honestly at this point I’ve just accepted I have to make firefox based browsers work for everything from now on.
He’s a tragic case but god damn if this isn’t one of the funniest clips on the internet.

I think this is also a problem of old timers not being able to articulate their concerns well. There is probably a reason they do or don’t do something a certain way, but if they can’t explain why, then no one is going to listen. Blindly following someone for percieved wisdom doesn’t teach you anything.
I actually like it when someone can show me why I’m wrong, because it saves me time. But if you can’t tell me WHY my idea won’t work, I’m probably just gunna do it anyway to figure it out myself.
I think this is as much a case of bad teachers as it is bad students.
Good ideas absolutely do die all the time even in open source. If the original dev doesn’t want to play nice, it’s actually pretty difficult to create a new fork that everyone will agree on. Hopefully these federated apps have enough inertia to prevent the userbase from splintering when the original devs move on.
I’ve been using Tutanota and Mullvad for like a decade now without any issues.
Tutanota in particular, feels like it’s gotten a lot better in the last year or so. The inbox loads a lot faster and you can show sender info in the notification.
The IMEI number on the phone is essentially locked to the device, swapping sims won’t change it. So a phone activated under your real name on one network could technically get traced back to you even when using a different SIM card.
Also, carrying a phone with both SIMs active is completely unprotected from correlation attacks by anyone with access to the cell tower data. It’d be blatantly obvious that the location of one SIM is the same as the other all the time.
All depends on the threat level you expect, but if you’re worried about a VOIP account being compromised to get your real number, you are talking about pretty sophisticated actors.
Educating yourself on topic is a good idea BEFORE you plan on arguing about it online.

Reddit is old enough to vote and has several orders of magnitude more users. You can’t create that much content organically overnight. As more content gets added it will attract more people who are interested in that content. In turn those users will contribute even more, even if it’s just in the form of engagement and upvoting posts they like.
Lemmy is already experiencing some growing pains because the decentralized, user hosted nature of the platform will never be able to react quickly across all instances. We deal with it because we don’t want to be controlled by one overarching entity and this is the ONLY alternative. Are there issues? Yes. Are there fewer issues than other social media sites? I don’t know, but the problems are at least different and potentially more fixable in the long run.
It’s so bad, it feels like using an ipad. Notifications are buggy as hell and you can’t even disable notification center with terminal like you could on x86 macs. I’m keeping an eye on Asahi linux but it seems a little too rough to be daily driveable yet.
Sort of unrelated but the apple support threads are all infuriating because they never answer the question. They embody the “it’s not a bug” motto until it’s clear there is a bug at which point they just say apple must be fixing it soon and to just keep your computer updated.
As far as I know ironfox supports any extensions normal firefox mobile does, but neither give you access to the full full extensions store. Iceraven is the only mobile browser I know of that lets you use all the extensions that you can on desktop firefox.
