I didn’t expect to find a Dungeon Crawler Carl reference in this thread. Goddamn.

Europe@lemmy.ml•[Video] NATO leader Mark Rutte says Europe should have started the war against Iran and Yemen instead of USA
15·12 days agoNo doubt. So that we would have been forced to buy US weapons. Shameless.

Europe@feddit.org•The trick to lowering gas prices is driving less, US energy secretary saysEnglish
4·26 days agoSure. First, they tell us to go live in the boonies since we cannot afford to rent or buy a flat in the city we work in. Now though I can’t afford to commute to the city I work in since public transportation has been gutted for the past 20 years. I could work from home obviously but the company firmly believes that cramming people in the same building has some value. Management of course can work from their home as much as they want. But sure, let’s drive less.

Europe@feddit.org•Italian tech collective to shut down after US terrorist designationEnglish
7·27 days agoIt doesn’t really matter if the registrar is .eu, .de or whatever. If US really wants to fuck you they are just gonna knock on ICANN door. As far as I know there is no escaping ICANN, that’s still at the top of every domain, period.

15·27 days agoAnd they are also being targeted by US sponsored hackers so it’s impossibile to keep services up this way. I hope this is a wake up call for someone but I don’t think so.

Europe@feddit.org•Italy weighs the results as Giorgia Meloni's government sets a longevity recordEnglish
7·30 days agoWhile technically correct, I feel this record is a bit misleading, at least as it’s been reported. When a minister resigns or there is some reshuffling in the government formally the PM is actually forming a new government so it’s quite common for PMs to lead more than a government during their term. Meloni simply didn’t need to shuffle anyone so far.
Seems like it’d be a great time to start playing it. But alas my backlog is too damn long

Open Source@lemmy.ml•Play Store blocks AuroraStore, hurting GrapheneOS users
702·1 month agoMisleading title. After reading the linked Gitlab discussion it’s more likely a backend change from Google side. Aurora does use burner account but early reports seem to suggest they are not flagged or rate limited.
Seems like a good time to play it for the first time too. I just need to find a decent recap of the first two

7·2 months agoControl is an amazing game, I recently replayed it before finally starting Alan Wake 2 (it’s so damn good!) and while perhaps a bit too easy the story is imho one of the best in the medium.

Europe@feddit.org•Italian machine tool sector wants tougher EU trade rules on China, says imported products must match same technical and safety standards required of European firmsEnglish
4·2 months agoSounds reasonable. But do Europeans have the money to buy cars at higher prices, I wonder. With salaries stagnant and our purchasing power slowly eroded year after year the Chinese carved a market that European manufacturers all but abandoned.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Juno Computers begins work on a Qt-based OpenStreetMap navigation app
2·2 months agoI think that as a community we should try to keep android as open as possible first of all. I daily drive GrapheneOS for instance and I don’t feel the need for a Linux phone. I get that both can coexist but I’m afraid we won’t be able to carve a big enough niche to make Linux phones work.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Juno Computers begins work on a Qt-based OpenStreetMap navigation app
5·2 months agoA friend of mine is restoring an old muscle car and I bet he’d love something like this as well. It’s a niche but we Linux enthusiasts can be quite passionate so I do think the audience is out there for sure.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Juno Computers begins work on a Qt-based OpenStreetMap navigation app
18·2 months agoThis makes a lot of sense actually. It’d be awesome to have more options for head units. I’m not sure about the target though, amateurs working on their car or restoring old models? I don’t see a lot of companies choosing a Linux based head unit for their cars. But the same argument could be said for Linux phones too.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Juno Computers begins work on a Qt-based OpenStreetMap navigation app
224·2 months agoI fail to see the point. The company sells laptops with Ubuntu preinstalled not phones which are the targets of such apps. Linux phones are still in their infancy and for Android we do have excellent apps like Mapy pulling their data from OSM. What am I missing?
