I love this because of how often a squirrel would take down our remote disaster recovery site.

Trauma pads could be used but distributing the impact so it’s blunt force trauma instead of a bullet wound is going to be significantly less deadly. A helmet has room between the skull and cap. A lot of times people won’t even wear all their Kevlar because weight, heat, and mobility. First goal is to stay alive so you have to be able to function in addition to surviving a round.

The person you were replying to was saying it’s already common to contract out devs, not that it’s common to pay royalties.

If our scientists learn magic why are they going through all that instead of just casting some spells to alter the atmosphere to optimal parameters for human life? They could even replenish oil wells so we can keep drilling perpetually. Maybe they should cast some spells for agricultural and fresh drinkable water production and such also. If scientists used their magic more efficiently we probably wouldn’t even have this issue to begin with.

Gotcha, no, I wasn’t trying to make that claim, it’s just a way to make it more difficult/time consuming
That’s all you can do though, extend the time it takes to brute force, so I’m not sure what the distinction being made is.
If they are following best practices then individual hashes should be salted and the database of hashes should be peppered so even if someone brute forces an offline copy of the hashes they wouldn’t result in actual useable passwords.

I drive my golf cart instead of my car daily. I had to get it titled, registered (plated) and insured. The cops had to inspect it for turn signals, brake lights, etc and sign a road worthiness letter before I could get it registered.

That’s how my local Taco Bell is. If you don’t use your phone to place the order when you walk in there’s four kiosks you walk up to for placing your order. None of the people working are working the counter.

My experience with a clinically diagnosed narcissist, which is very rare considering, was with an ex I spent/wasted seven years of my life with, and subtly different from what you said. She saw everyone else as superior but unjustly so. Everyone that wasn’t serving her interests was an enemy. The insecurities of feeling inferior to everybody manifested in a projection of superiority but under it all it was just a mask to protect her fragile ego. She would do anything and everything, in the moment of her current environment to get what she wanted. She only cared about anyone in so much as they validated her desire of inflated self worth, her own children included. There was a sliver of hope after a year of therapy but as real as the temporary empathetic soul briefly emerged all it took was a light switch moment and suddenly, like a light switch, that just became another momentary blip to then be used as an additional tool in her toolbox to socially destroy anyone that wronged her. Even after grey rocking her for over two years, following our seven year relationship, did I start getting left alone (luckily her kids weren’t mine, still feel for them but they are taking a master class in manipulation and strategic mood swings). I’m sure she got distracted with her next victim and I no longer fed her need for control and ego building enough so she lost focus but it was the most miserable decade of my forty odd years on this earth. I love her, or who I thought she was anyway, it still hurts thinking back but it was never really her, who I thought she was didn’t exist.

Yeah and I’ve worked for a company that stupidly put their vpn service on 192.168.1.0/24 so most peoples home network would act weird as hell whenever they connect to the work vpn. That’s a poor implementation and shouldn’t be done. Address conflicts are certainly annoying especially when it’s a black box but that’s not a reason to shoehorn everything over to IPv6. I can’t imagine a scenario ever existing that I would have any desire for everything in my house to be uniquely reachable to the world. I have a point of presence to the internet behind my Palo Alto, what I do inside there is incredibly simple with IPv4 and interoperates seamlessly with IPv6. This idea that everything needs to be raw dogging the internet, especially with the current state, or lack of, information security makes no sense to me. Talking about IPv6 not being fully implemented as some sort of critique is ignorant, shows a complete lack of use case analysis, usually erodes away after someone spends a year or so in the real world, and isn’t the gotcha folks seem to think it is.

Ok? That use case has been solved. You can still use private IPv4 addressing and everything will just work because carrier service providers have solved those limitations.

They both have use cases and are interoperable. I don’t see why folks think it’s so odd that they are both used and will likely continue to be used. It’s hardly even a topic worth talking about. Seems like one of those things people hear about being around for a long time as an updated standard and it’s some kind of gotcha that not everything uses it…What driver do these people imagine exists to not use IPv4, the addressing limit was solved before IPv6 even hit the street and has only matured and integrated with IPv6 since.

I’m glad the conversation happened, I typically tune out any celebrity news and this turned out to be a good discussion to read and learn more about. I can’t say I’ve ever held an opinion about any of these celebrity folks beyond being entitled trash but I agree with the conclusion you presented that I’m replying to.

Holy shit. Over 1k people killed every day? How the hell do you maintain any kind of morale?
I understand the bitching and they are certainly stupid. I get defensive about it a bit because not everybody has the head on their shoulders to separate things, read the online discourse, and screw themselves over. Everyone knows it’s stupid, just play the damn game. I don’t want some junior inexperienced person setup for failure because they got themselves a hot head is all. Appreciate the clarification.
That person is an idiot without any actual real world experience. Good on you for sharing useful information. I’ve had colleagues and employees like him lose their job before even being hooked up because of their shit attitude and my advice to folks boils down to the same. Be respectful, be transparent, even if embarrassing (there is nothing they haven’t heard before), and just give your “yes”, “no”. Best case you don’t see them again for 3-5 years, worst case it’s inconclusive and they will run it again a couple times and you will be more used to what’s expected. Go in with a shit attitude with your head up your ass and nobody is feeling bad that you pissed away a salary/job security perk and will never think about you again after a weeks time as they press on checking the box and taking care of themselves.
Because I have no desire to socialize with hateful bigots
