  • Rofl. Biden/Harris trying everything they could to circumvent the blockade to get supplies into Gaza. Trump literally saying he wants to expel the remaining Palestinians and take their land for himself.

You will never admit you were wrong. You will go to your deathbed self assured with yourself that you never compromised on your ideals no matter what actually happens to Gazian Palestinians.

If it wasn’t abundantly obvious to the rest of ya’ll before, these soapbox “never genocide” bad actors never gave a single shit about what happens Palestinians.

  • Eh. The Gen Xers I know all admit they’d be fucked in today’s housing market if they didn’t already have theirs. The are generally very sympathetic and appreciate how lucky they are.

To modify this comic, they sit down for a show and are quickly horrified at the brutality of the spectacle.

  • I consider it animal abuse, but I can understand that there’s an argument that it’s not. I think the distinction of requiring scientific evidence supporting their claim is a reasonable requisite to allow the discussion.

It seems like things worked out here. My knee-jerk reaction would be to classify vegan diets in carnivor pets to be animal abuse and probably would have reported. But discussion happened to allow for discourse, and they rolled back the decision to at least allow for transparency.

And to be clear, I still think it is hands down animal abuse and hope that others come to the same conclusion. Animals don’t have the ability to make an informed choice. Subjecting them to a dangerous diet to satisfy your own niche moral compass is evil.

It’s not about you, it’s about the animal. Get over yourself.

But again, I think it’s OK to have the discussion, and I hope the community buries their side into oblivion.

  • Iirc, sardines require cool currents to get through warm(er) water. There’s a thing called the sardine run, where a specific area in the migration path has a (relatively) narrow cold water current that forces them into a bottleneck, and predators feast in a huge spectacle.

What I’m guessing happened was these poor guys were following a cold current that disappeared, and died of heat exhaustion. Which iirc isn’t that uncommon of an occurrence

  • Russian government is not the Russian people. For the last 30 years or so, the only bad coming out of Russia was trade wars and proxy wars, all exclusively perpetuated by the elite. The general masses were innocent.

The problem now is that the general public is complicit with this war war. Those that haven’t fled or rioted.

And their soldiers are committing unspeakable horrors beyond the bare “necessities” of war. Torture, rape, genocide. It’s sadistic what they have done.

I felt compassion for the first wave of unwitting soldiers who suddenly found themselves in a war, many from poor rural territories where joining the military was the only feasible way to provide for their family.

    Now? Not so much.

  • I’m sorry, but while you seem to be an intelligent and thoughtful enough person, your arguments seem to be in bad faith.

The article is specifically framed as since the Hamas / Isreal conflict began. That’s specifically Isreal related. It’s in the title.

I never claimed, nor would I ever, that attacks on innocents because of their religion/ethnic background, is valid criticism. Nor did I chime in to justify it. You’re intelligent enough to understand my prior point, but you intentionally misrepresent it.

And my comment clearly made a distinction between jews and Isreal as a state. To me, that’s at least implying that I show solidarity with the Jewish people, because I do not lump the actions of the Isreal government, which I condemn, to be representative of the Jewish people. That was more subtext, so I’ll give you that one.

But, this all goes to reinforce my earlier assertion that “the boy who cried wolf” is in full effect here. This is all very exhausting to dive into the minutiae of stances in every comment thread related to Isreal or Palestine. And I can forgive anyone who glances at a topic related to either with antisemitism as the topic to approach it with skepticism.
