Theory: this is late-stage capitalism, where the working class are so exploited and overworked that they don’t know who to be angry at. Someone like Trump comes along and (falsely) mirrors their anger and they unwittingly roll out the red carpet for a fascist. I’m really hopeful that once they see what they actually voted for, they’ll not be so welcoming. Trump 1.0 was absolutely nothing compared to what Trump 2.0 is going to be.
