@sarahsquirrel #UX is an interesting thing with ActivityFed since choice or service, server and UI are all kind of independent. e.g. I use #Lemmy communities alot via a #Friendica server that I sometimes access via web UI and othertimes via #Fedilab as such you could actually help with UX of lemmy by contributing to #Friendica or #Fedilab as well.

Regards your local group perhaps #friendica might provide a fuller set of features or indeed you could spin up something like #Yunohost and run a Friendica and #lemmy service for them (and throw in some #Nextcloud to)

@Cris_Color @kreynen I agree. I think fundamentally this is a good project / idea. I am trying to work out where I might contribute - Im a Business Analyst with Web Content experience so my though was to start in Documentation and communication to start. Consequently Im interested in talking to anyone with any #fintech #payments and #corebanking knowledge.

Yeah I am just getting involved in the project. I think that engaging with a full suite of open source products is a good way to show how they can be used by Credit Unions and save a heap of costs…but I also understand this is a process and sometimes you do need to be aware of what your audience uses. Its a process right?

@Socket462 Yeah I did some dry runs and the folders maoped but I think its something about the labels … Ill dig further.

@Socket462 Thanks yeah. I think you are right. I have managed to have some success with extracting emails from #Gmail using #imapsync. I’ve done a couple of test runs but think that I have an issue with labels (basically I end up with emails in the All Mail folder but not in Sent or Inbox ) so I think I need to look at the options a bit.

Where should I / would you keep scripts that I create to run either one off or on a regular basis ? Should I create a folder in /etc/imapsync ? I have never really understood the folder structure of Linux despite trying to read up on it a few times.

@Krik Yeah no man page and /etc/imapsync doesn’t exist - I’ve also had a look at the documentation on the site (imapsync.lamiral.info/ but the documentation feels a bit free form - I mean Hey its free software I don’t expect anything - I have managed to get it running using the example config I found on the site and just creating a folder in a subdirectory of my ~/ and seem to be making some progress with some dry runs. I’m actually hoping to move emails into my email account running on #yunohost.

@geoma I’m running on a free Oracle Instance and spinning up a separate instance on RBPi but not having any issues.

@geoma Not sure why… I mean what functionality doesn’t work that makes you think that? Is there anything Mastodon does that Frendica doesn’t?

@geoma Id go for Friendica - its a good mix i think will grow overtime to include different usage types

Id probably almost never sleep at home

I can report that our test of Briar worked perfectly… (Except it was accidentally called Brian at some point… ) I can see that sticking. - Our test was somewhat short circuited by #Ryanair’s decision to actually seat us together in an #exitrow for once. #extralegroom baby!

Well Im not entirely sure what will happen using a lemmy account byt try - Grab your Lemmy account and login a client like #Fedilab - Find a Mastodon user and comment or follow them and watch what happens.

@donuts I am not sure if its federated but something at least… And could be developed to be federated.

Use #Friendica - #lemmy works well there for me - you also got to realise there is a lot of playing around with UIs in different client apps - #Fedilab #racoon plus so many more
