Hi! :)
[she/her]
Nazis, tankies and terrorist justifiers can kindly fuck off.

As someone else who prefers 3, I think that it’s more fun to explore and generally has a better atmosphere. New Vegas has better writing but the world feels empty. 3 more fun to actually play. Honestly, I’d probably take 4 over NV for the same reason.
1/2 I haven’t managed to get into. At all.
ETA - I was also never really interested in the wild west as a setting, so NV has a bit of an uphill battle from the start.

Do they? It’s not like the palaces and fancy hats just vanish if you abolish the institution. The tourists will come anyway, there’s no king in the Versailles palace and it’s still a major tourist attraction.

None of that really matters for a home media server. Even the limited SATA ports, worst case you have to grab a cheap expansion card.
Power consumption is a much bigger concern, a purpose built NAS is much more efficient than a random old PC.
I’m not arguing that it’s not helpful, but I don’t think it’s a “should” or even a reasonable expectation. Nobody has the time to learn how to do everything that’s going to be potentially helpful at some point in their lives. We all set different priorities, and that’s fine.
Because I used stereotypical non-nerdy things. Most people also couldn’t repair their car, fix their pipes or install a stove.
And a lot of Lemmy could be accused of having the same attitude towards sports, fashion or pop culture. People aren’t obligated to be interested in tech, for most people it’s a tool, not a hobby.

It’s not but it’s also kind of irrelevant to the situation in Europe right now because it’s history. The Soviet Union and it’s puppet regimes fell decades ago, and the Eastern Block sponsored communist terrorists (RAF, Red Brigades, etc.) went down along with it.

Except NATO could and would do the same, and even without the US the European members of the alliance have far greater manpower reserves than Russia. And better tech. And a larger manufacturing base. And more money. And better access to global markets. And navies to protect that access.
Attacking Ukraine was stupid. Attacking NATO would be nothing short of suicidal. Russia would lose a conventional war, and nobody wins a nuclear war.

I don’t think anyone is claiming that Proton is perfect, but it certainly beats not being able to play most new-ish games. Which was the situation on Linux prior to Proton.

Do you fuckheads seriously think this would’ve worked if they just showed up in the streets, whined for a while, and went home?
No. Obviously you need sustained protests. The arson was entirely unnecessary, though.

With the amount of alternatives it’s also very likely that you’ll find one that you genuinely prefer over Coca-Cola or Pepsi once you give them a try. I did not start buying Fritz Kola over Coca-Cola because of any “feature”, and not because it’s German either. I just tried it on a whim ages ago and preferred the taste, so that’s what I’ve been buying since.

That’s far from the only issue. Of course all of the things I’d name (systemic racism, horrible prison conditions, gaps in our “universal” healthcare, dismantling of the social state) are also things the current US administration would be in favour of.

Peaceful being the operative word. If Taiwan democratically elects to join the PRC then yes, Germany would accept that. If China invades and holds a Russia style “referendum” then no, Germany would not consider that legitimate. Only one of those is a likely scenario, and it’s not the first one.

Is that supposed to be English?

Doesn’t GeForce now have a free tier?

That’s a vast oversimplification of the thought process and emotions that’s going on there and an extremely uncharitable one at that (most people have their own lives to worry about, it’s usually less “I can’t drive where I want to” and more “I have to get to work”), but essentially yes. That’s the reality you have to work with.

Those do work better. Antagonising the people whose support you rely on to effect change is a horrible strategy, the more of a disturbance protests cause to the average person, the less likely said average person is to be supportive.
Only on paper. They can effectively do what they want unless they have physical offices in Europe or are willing/able to pay the fines.
