Oh, it absolutely will be cool as shit if it is actually a realized thing, and I’ll probably play the shit out of it, it’s just been in development soooo long and had so many problems that at this point if they get it done great, just not holding out my hopes too much.

Vintage story is interesting, I do kinda like it, but imo terrafirmacraft, the Minecraft mod/overhaul the devs originally started on, is much more polished. It is different from VS, and there are things I like more about VS than TFC though.

Still a lil skeptical and waiting to see if they actually release it, but cool to see some progress regardless

Terrafirmacraft and Gregtech do actually have modern 1.20.1 versions! I am currently actually playing a modpack with some friends called Terrafirmagreg, which as the name implies is tfc and Gregtech integrated, along with a bunch of other QOL and add-ons. It is a very fun, and very very long pack.

Edit: I believe there is a 1.7 version of the pack as well

Lesser evil politics without pushing for better candidates and also doing community building gets you fascism. Just voting for the lesser evil and calling it a day is technically better than voting for the fascist, but not a whole lot as it lets the status quo slip.

Also, what the fuck else are you supposed to do? Be accelerationist and vote for the fascism? Just refuse to participate and and let whatever happens happen? Both of those sound like ways to also get fascism.

I mean some of them legit do (cough Fetterman), and a lot just don’t particularly care about stopping it, but that’s beside the point, I know the kind of people you’re actually talking about. There is still value in electing the lesser evil, and pushing to get better and more progressive Dems in office (that are usually better at pushing back against fascism anyways)

This also assumes the same pot of money is being used for all kinds of energy generation, which is not always the case because bureaucracy. Also also pretty much all renewables are intermittent besides hydro which is not available everywhere. It might be more expensive, but both having diverse energy sources and baseline power is good for the grid. Wind and solar also do not provide any grid Inertia,, which is important for maintain frequency. I wanna say it was Ireland (feel free to check where) that actually had too few conventional generators and too much wind, and they had to build basically just a massive flywheel to regulate their grid

Tbh I’d still rather have something economically unviable funded by my taxes than pumping CO2 into the air. And it’s not really that much of an either or thing with renewables, both can/should be done but the important thing is to stop subsidizing fossil fuels (which are to this day highly subsidised which makes the comparison even worse)

As others kinda said, it take isn’t that much waste, especially compared to like coal ash. And it’s actually much safer too in dry casks. There are also bigger problems with nuclear than the waste, but thats not your question. The way to solve waste is a combination of:

• big ol fuckin hole in the ground (e.g. salt mine or similar, where it will get sealed in)

• molten salt reactors and other modern designs, which more completely use up the fuel. Old rod designs are actually like kinda really inefficient.
