yes it looks like a con that’s common on twitter - “omg if my boyfriend would get me this for Christmas, i’d marry him” and then a link to an overpriced item on etsy or similar, that you can get off aliexpress or even amazon for cheap.

NextDNS allows you to configure a lot of different blocklist, including the adguard one. other than that it works just the same. but i agree, for ease of use adguard dns might be just enough

the server can store metadata though. who you’re texting, when, how often, etc. - and store that indefinitely. or even store the encrypted message, and when a flaw in the encryption is discovered 10 years later, they’re all readable. their servers could be breached and that info could be siphoned by criminals selling it to the highest bidder.

you know, you can block ads on Android. add as many trackers as you want, NextDNS will just sinkhole them 🤷♂️ it works just like PiHole. Adguard is good too. no need for any subscription.
