Technology@lemmy.world•Google Chrome silently installs a 4 GB AI model on your device without consent. At a billion-device scale the climate costs are insane.English
4·28 days agoYou’re forgetting FOSS. That wisdom only applies when the product is made for financial incentive and is free, and not always then either.
To question one: yes. To question two: it depends on the size of the dataset and the percentage that is poisoned. Look into Iocaine, Nightshade, etc.
Why was this posted in linuxmemes?
Good! I’m proud of 'em.

Post with credits or not at all.
They are not ads. They are artist credits, like signatures.
Cropping out artist credit just makes you a dick.

Socialanxiety@lemmy.blahaj.zone•Had a panic attack at work — here's what helped in 30 seconds
2·2 months agoDarkness, isolation, silence, and cold are helpful for me. It’s very difficult for me to stop a panic attack when warm, near any noise (irrespective of volume), being addressed by another person, or in light.
Side note: If someone looks stressed, don’t ask them more than once if they’re okay. There is nothing that makes my panic attacks worse than someone pestering me about it. If they say “please leave me alone,” you should fuck off.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why do people pronounce ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) like it's a word?
3·2 months agoThe word you are looking for is not “initialisation,” but “initialism.”

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Do werewolves shed? Or do they lose their whole coat when transferring back? Do Vampires have little holes in their K9s to suck up the blood after puncturing someone or thing?
1·2 months agoNeither exist. I feel like a possibly rhetorical question about mythology on which there is little consensus or centralized canon is something I might call a “stupid question.”
