3 months agoThe IDF’s withdrawal process is conditional on the Lebanese army deploying in southern Lebanon and fully and effectively enforcing the agreement, while Hezbollah withdraws beyond the Litani.
This is the money quote. I don’t think the Lebanese army will be strong enough to fulfil it’s part of the deal within the next few years. So that will be nearly permanent.
And which country is willing to give up it’s army and hand it over to Europe? I like the idea but think it’s better to standardise the armies of Europe than to unite them into one single army.
