It was NOT found to be untrue. Full stop. It was found to be unsubstantiated.
You are right, I was imprecise. What I meant is that “it was not found to be true”, not that “it was found to be not true”.

Yeah, he was stupid to have that idea. But nobody was actually wronged in the end.

I think it looks good for the integrity of Linus that he took the blame and never revealed the identity of the logistics employee that made the mistake of misassigning the prototype for the auction. He could’ve easily thrown them under the bus and fired them instead, because their mistake did real reputational damage to the company.

Sexual harassment
It was found to be an untrue allegation by a third party. You can of course choose to not believe them, but there was never any proof and everyone who works there denies it (and a lot of women work there), so take of that what you will.
poor work life balance
Very true
anti union
Linus is not anti-union. He said he would consider it a personal failure if his employees felt the need to unionize, but he supports their right to do so.

The warranty for his (I think it was a) backpack, was trust me bro.
To be fair, the warranty was proposed to be “trust me bro”, the community very much didn’t like that, so it actually came with a real warranty when it launched. So it never actually happened.

The VPN is not supposed to protect you from an authoritarian government, it’s meant to bypass the ID requirement, which it does very well.

Most of that attack piece was shown to be fake allegations though. It did contain some valid criticism, and the valid parts were resolved.

A different creator spouted a bunch of lies in an attack video, was a big drama, nobody cared when it was proven wrong later and the community sentiment in many online spaces is like this now. Standard drama sells corrections don’t thing.

promoting scams and keeping quiet about it
Source?

proven that he is paid off
Never heard of this, any source?

Yeah, which is what I said. It’s great, but an alternative solution is an alternative solution. If someone is sharing a file to a group with Airdrop, you are not receiving it with localsend.

Localsend doesn’t support Airdrop.

Which is great, but it doesn’t solve the interoperability problem of being able to AirDrop files between someone’s iPhone/MacBook and your Linux/Android
I rewatched the series finale now, and his conclusion seems as I remembered:
He didn’t even bring up his issue in the conclusion. If you can timestamp any “fuck Linux”, I would love to see it, because I really doubt he ever said that.
That being said, while it’s obviously his fault for ignoring warninigs, it’s ridiculous something as basic as installing Steam got him into that situation in the first place, it’s pop os’s fault for shipping a broken package. And yeah, things like that really don’t happen on Windows.
Yes, once Billet changed their mind after not liking the review, they mistakenly sold it and paid them back.
Uhh, he promotes Linux at every step? You are free to dislike him and his content, but he’s absolutely a force for Linux adoption.
The explanation made sense to me. They found Honey was stealing from creators, but still saving money for users, so it would be very self-serving to make a fuss about it, instead they only let other creators know. From the users point of view it was still a great product (from what was known at the time).
This is true, but the CEO change had nothing to do with it. It was already happening before any of the drama, due to Linus wanting to have more time for making videos instead of having to manage the company.
They were not only not allowing it, they immediately blocked the user’s attempt to put it on their servers and banned the user for even trying. That’s as far from allowing it as possible.
