  • I run a nonprofit that owns a few venues with great sound systems, so I deal very closely with a lot of musicians. And man do they all love their Macs. The windows attachment mostly has to with older large donors involved in our accounting. But neither of those things are going to change super quickly. I just keep switching over more machines one by one.

As much as I have no desire to play either of those games, their existence on Windows affects me exactly zero. I’m still a mixed Linux and Windows user (and a couple of Macs I don’t want), I manage a lot of machines between my family and my small nonprofit. I like Linux a lot but I doubt I’ll ever be able to walk away from Apple or Windows completely. But a man can dream! People keep dragging me back in…

I lived a couple of years in Europe but more and more I don’t care for western European culture. Some of the northeastern countries are okay. But I’m in my 50’s and my short time living there doesn’t define me outside of broadening my perspective and appreciating other cultures far more.

I taught my brother basic programming when he was 7, and then a little pascal. When he was 8 he asked for a fat C+ programming manual for Christmas. When he was 9, he made a working version of MS Word from scratch, it even saved files in compatible file formats.

That was 1989. I think Word has not improved since then, but my brother is doing alright for himself. I still like to fix computers, but I don’t work in computer science.

  • I have a table outside. But between the insects and the weather, it is unbearable 11 months of the year. So my table is just covered in mildew. I’d love to move back to the California coast where the weather is nice, but I’d have to live in my car. My wife, my 3.5 kids and I wouldn’t fit in my car very well.
