Climb down off of your soapbox. Amazon is what it is because of early strategic decision making and long term shittiness. I’m talking about aggregation and exposure to semi-local partners.
I’m trying to use Ebay more often but the source is hard to verify.
I just wish there was an aggregator that isn’t Walmart or Amazon or Temu. I try really hard to spread my shopping around and actually buy local when I can. It just sucks Amazon is so easy.
I take full responsibility for myself. I try to shop independently when possible.
My only comment here is that I run a small business and decisions can occur that I don’t always see up front and with which they negatively impact employees or customers. I also know many large clients where the leadership delegates decisions down to sometimes stupid or misguided staff. The balance here comes to how a leader reacts when they learn of the hurtful actions and is there an opportunity for change.
Don’t try to redirect stupidity from people to computers. We’re more than capable of doing stupid things without the help of our AI overlords.
I was thinking I want just 4 or 5 kw of storage. Also wanting an electric car to plug in but that’s another coat I’m not ready to dive into. Ugh.
That would only make you feel good. It would not make real change.
I’m frustrated that I want to get a full off the grid solar setup but then it’ll cost 25K and won’t really offset itself until 10 years or more. I’ll feel good about being net zero in home energy usage but that is not a cost that the average person can afford.
With Mastodon it’s less important I think with what local server you choose. You’ll still need to go out and find who to follow. With Lemmy, I think critical mass helps show good content quicker. I’m on hachyderm.io. It’s a solid Masto server. For Lemmy I’m on lemmy.world just because.
Is that Colin Robinson?
