How many movies do you actually need to store on the device itself? Apple has been all in on streaming stuff so you’d only ever need to actually download stuff when you’re planning on going offline.
That said for it’s price that’s hilariously small storage, but simultaneously peak Apple.
Both my desktop and my server are in Define R4s. Plenty of room, dead silent, and still good airflow for a silent case.
10+ years and they’re still my favorite case, and I’d never want anything else.
You’re not supposed to. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.
Nobody wants to spend the court costs to get a patent troll stripped of their bad patent. And for a patent troll you’re going to need a lawyer, they’re going to fight tooth and nail to keep it since that’s their source of income.
Then a patent troll steals it and makes things worse for everyone.
Patenting something then immediately opening it up is by far the best option.
Microsoft says it’s more secure. and that since it stays on its 100% the OSes control which is supposed to be much more secure”reliable” than S3 standby.
Nevermind that S0 standby is so incredibly buggy and awful on windows where it’s supposed to be best. My i9 Thinkpad drops 20% battery in 15 minutes, then goes into hibernation. It has a 50% chance of overheating in my bag and crashing when trying to get in to hibernation.
Oil burning is the only real issue’s they have these days. At least for Subaru.
Subaru fixed headgaskets with the new FA and FB series engines. Oil burning is typically consistent so just know how often you need to top it up if it’s a problem, or just get early oil changes. Otherwise they’re very reliable, just hard to work on.
Are you sure S3 sleep is enabled in the bios? On most machines it’s one or the other, not both at the same time. On some Intel machines you can still enable S3 standby, but I know AMD killed it a lot sooner than Intel did.
Windows has powercfg /availablesleepstates to show what states are supported. I’m sure there’s something like that for linux but I’m not 100% sure. You could try dmesg | grep -i "acpi: (supports"
How intensive is nomachine? I’ve used it on decent hardware and it’s performance was pretty good. But I’m thinking of setting it up on the raspbery pis at work since VNC is painful to use.
Windows will even notify you of exactly this limitation.
From the thunderbolt port on my laptop, to my dock, to my monitor, to my big ass hub was 1 too many hops. Obviously somewhere along there were some hubs that weren’t obvious to the naked eye.
I don’t own sublime.
But even if I did I prefer it over sublime most of the time. Hence copying stuff into it, multi editing, then copying it back over.
From just the little things like NP++ actually supporting windows 11s right click menu, to liking notepads find and replace options better. To stupid things like I think sublime is ugly as hell. Which really says something with how basic NP++ looks.
Multi-edit is huge. It’s literally THE reason why I use sublime text from time to time.
I frequently copy text from NP++ to sublime. do a multi edit, then copy it back over multiple times a day.
If you’re doing it for the memes then you don’t really need to worry about malware. Your machine is probably too old for anything that’s still floating out there to even work on it.
There’s a point where it goes from basic theming to full blown ricing. I think OP is trying to jump off the deep end.
Cars are already as light as they can reasonably be unless you get into something hyper specialized. And then you just have a tin can with wheels.
Hobbyists, especially hobbyists in itanium are an incredibly small market share. Their time is much better spent on what people, and most importantly businesses (who pay their bills) use.
Windows will run a modern windows game with a lot less fiddling than Linux with wine and proton.
Most people aren’t spending a lot of time playing 20 year old games on windows 11.
Mac OS has has this nailed down basically perfectly for over 10 years now, even windows has been great in the last 5+ years. Not having scaling done right in the age of 4k displays being cheap is a sin.
