I would say adobe is the biggest stone on Linux shoes. The brainwashed with their office braking compatibility would be easily fixed just ditching microsoft, gamers just don’t want to switch to something that works. But adobe, with all their patents are a big issue. The moment a real alternative comes up they will sue.

I literally changed jobs to not have to deal with adobe.

To complement the above reply, although you paid a lot for the car, you’re paying even more daily, giving many away to very nasty companies that will turn your investment against you to increase their profit. Your data will be sold and you’re donating money to billionaires.

Being gay is soooo much easier today. I would say we reached the utopia, because I don’t hide and yet my life doesn’t seem different than straight people.

The screaming ones one both sides, the “everyone must know I’m gay” and the “no one should be allowed to show they are gay” are the minority, but they sure are loud. And internet is their megaphone.

But that depends on the country of course. I’m sure gays in Saudi Arabia are not happy.

It always annoyed me so much that gay was a personality type like goth or nerd or jock, in US media.

Yeah. Same. The dream was to just be normal. That liking guys is the same as liking girls. You can be a femboy gay, or a macho yanktank straight, or the other way around. But it’s not anymore simply who you like that catches people attention.

You can simply be gay, and that is just one detail of your life. Not a whole fight anymore.

As an older gay guy, as you grow older, being gay stops being important. You just like guys, and the other guy like girls. That’s it.

And it’s actually kind of annoying how some people make that their entire personality. But when I left my mom’s house I even hanged porn pictures on my room, to tell everyone what I am and that I wouldn’t hide anymore. So I was the same.

But over time I realised that I should never have to hide, I didn’t have to keep showing either. I didn’t really want. I just did it because I was angry I had to hide.

My point is; we are here. Just not that visible.

Edit, I must also say that it’s because a lot of people fought for our rights. I couldn’t just be a guy who likes guys back then. It’s a luxury I love. It’s just like a straight guy talking about his female partner most of the times, and that’s awesome. I can choose to make it my personality or not these days without having to hide.

It’s a vicious cycle when you’re depressed. Internet helps to ignore the horrible life you want to forget, but it also ensures your life stay horrible. I’ve been there. When you’re not on the internet draining your brain you feel much worse.

Some people use alcohol or drugs instead. I’m just coming out of 4 months like that and I don’t know what I could have done instead, when you just don’t have the will to do anything, not even to kill yourself. Internet doesn’t require any will.

But no way. Just building the prusa mini was way harder than I thought. Took me days and I messed up many things. I wouldn’t try something even harder. I had noticed how their ethical standard seemed to be going down from the kind of spam from them I’ve been getting. But I held then to such high regard for their old open source contributions that I refused to believe.

I just have no idea what the life of a Facebook user, for instance, is like. What apps do they use, do they wear Facebook glasses? Facebook buttplugs? Can they use adblock?

It’s a wild, unknown world, and I hope to keep it that way. What everyone knows is that they are filthy rich and they got there with private data. And that’s all everyone needs to know to decide if they want to make them richer and their data is the tool for that.

But the specifics elude me.

To be honest, since I have adblock I find it hard to understand too. How can that make so much money? But all the current richest companies and people built their empire on private data right? Google, Facebook, elon musk and so on, so it’s very easy to see the proof. You give them your data, you give them money.

Now, power is easier to understand. If you want to control or kill people, the more information you have the better. It’s easy to see why evil governments have always loved spying.

One thing I find it odd that I don’t ever see mentioned is the most obvious: private data is money and power for companies. Do you like X (meta, google, literal moronic x, etc) company that much that you want to donate money to them and make them more powerful?

Almost no one would say yes. They don’t care about their privacy, but they certainly don’t think poor zuckeberg needs some donations and more power.

It’s by far the biggest reason I care about my data. If I liked the company I wouldn’t mind the donation. But only evil companies would try to profit from personal data, so that can’t exist. My hate for these companies and my wish to see them destroyed far outweighs my concern with my privacy.

That includes governments of course. The one with the most spying, like the US or israel are the ones I hate the most and try as much as I can to not give them more power.

Yeah, I don’t know. I know that there are softwares specific for invoicing but I’ve never used one, nor did I use to send too many invoices. Most of the time I was an employee, doing some other freelances, so it wasn’t too much to keep track.

I used Inkscape because I was more used to it, working with graphics most of my life. LibreOffice is probably easier. But I don’t know how that’s supposed to be done with proprietary softwares either.
